In the documentary Coded Bias, the police in England were utilizing new AI facial recognition technology to find criminals on the streets and yes they were almost all black. The documentary states that it is because the models were trained on mostly white people so it couldn't differentiate black peoples features as well. Or something to that affect.

maybe regulate some of the most destructive corporations. maybe militarize the protection of rainforests and stop deforestation. maybe stop intervening in countries governments when they're trying to stop global capitalists from taking their land and stripping it for profit. maybe develop infrastructure for efficient mode of travel. maybe promote localized food production and fund those projects instead of war. so many solutions people have been fighting for for centuries, meanwhile politicians and wealthy elite just greenwash everything while they plunder the world for resources and power to sell. they've sold our future and have refused to heed decades old warnings because its not good for their bottom line. maybe total destruction is the only solution, because i do not have faith in the governments to actually enforce anything to actually address the issues. they will gaslight the general population and forget to tell us that the top 1% are responsible for over 50% of the total global emissions.

catastrophe is good for business. if the climate would do it instead they'll save some money on bombs.

Good article. I'm curious, what warranted a warrant for the FBI to seize the DB and other things?

Its part of it, but remember the consumer is not the only one responsible. The deregulation of corporations and lobbying against ecological efforts, paid for by corporations, and enacted by politicians and protected by police are a big part of the destructive side of capitalism and consumerism.

Im beginning to use lemmy more and more and preferring it over reddit. Its much better, conversationally and without the suggested Jesus and Army and Navy ads etc. However my usage is still similar to reddit, ie scrolling and reading alot of things and memes etc. But the conversational interactions seem alot more productive, i like that.

Nothing currently can compete with Adobe Photoshop. Unless they port it to linux. It would take open source devs serious time to catch up to Photoshop development. Plus without making millions of dollars for decades, the development of another application of that scale and complexity would be a serious undertaking. That said GIMP as you know is probably the best "alternative". For me I just dual-boot and use windows for basically Adobe Suite. All other times I use linux. However I learned GIMP a long time ago so I am comfortable using it for what it can do, and I'm probably faster in GIMP than PS. I am not a professional graphic designer etc. though.
