Meant to write Color Management, mainly used in gaming (one of the reasons Valve is pushing hard for this)

Comment by Zamundaaa (Xaver) a couple of hours ago. (AKA One of the most prominent KDE and Wayland Dev)

There will also be a new Display/HDR HackFest in around 2 weeks where most prominent Devs from different DE and companies like Valve, ADM and Igalia will attend. Hosted by the latter in La Coruña, Spain. https://www.phoronix.com/news/2024-Linux-Display-Hackfest-May

But doesnt KDE and weston already have HDR implementations? Yes but there are patched hacks. The protocol will finally make things clear and standard so it can be implemented by all the different parties.

The protocol in gitlab

What does Bazzite brings that Nobara doesnt already?

while Debian is still deciding if they ship with Wayland by default or not, Fedora and KDE are planning to already completely drop x11 for their next release (they ship Wayland by default)

Curious from people who follow its development closely.

  • What protocol are about to be finally implemented?
  • Which ones are still a struggle?
  • How many serious protocols are there missing?

All big companies run on Linux server. The German gov will try to move to Linux again. I think things are moving forward steadily now.

Flatpak just fixed their cleaning up of old versions which was a deterrent for a lot of people. There are a few technical things people complain about. I think the main real complain comes from its syntax since it doesnt work with shell or is POSIX.

Ive noticed its has been any activity in their github for a longtime. https://github.com/dylanaraps/neofetch

There are a few more info that could be added nowadays like Display Protocol (Wayland/X11) and Display size. FastFetch does this but Neofetch is globally recognized.

Fastfetch vs Neofetch
