Chinese insults are on whole another level.

Importing anything above €27 is out of the question here, the prices increases exponentially, and there's a high risk of getting it seized in the border for govt to resel it in a higher price later. As I said earlier, I can work with VM or dualboot.

My country in particular has been pushing what I'd like to call the “anti-education” policy for decades now. They don't teach anything in any grade, be it kindergarten or post-grad. They want you to study for the ridiculous exams that test your memorization instead of your knowledge. And even when you pass them and get in a good school, if you don't have any relatives close to the government, you either have to move to other countries or work in inhuman conditions.

As for the AutoCAD, I'm using a VM, and I haven't encountered any problems for now. I can go my own way after I pass the class.

Thank you for reminding me that my Mandarin still sucks and I must study in a more strict and disciplined manner.

I don't like extreme subgenres of metal, but it was an interesting video about the scene in China.

Yep, a very hostile country against its citizens.

[–] asdasd201@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Those are inflated American prices. Whatever I said is probably much cheaper where you’re at.

I just checked it, and the cheapest option we have is around 40k, jfml. The reason for the expensiveness is the stores inflate the prices, and the taxes double the already ridiculous prices.

Look at the massgrave instructions for 21h2 iot ltsc, it’ll make your life easier.

Good to know! I might even try to dualboot using their ISOs instead.

[–] asdasd201@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 day ago (6 children)

The problem is $100 dollars is too much money here, ~5000 bucks. If I buy that I won't be able to afford my bills. Switching back to Win10 if all else fails sounds way more affordable.

[–] asdasd201@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 day ago

It didn't work unfortunately. I'll stick to VMs.

[–] asdasd201@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 day ago (8 children)

You're right, but dual booting screwed up my computer many times, so I'm trying to avoid it at all costs. I'd rather use the web version or work slowly on the VM than pray for not breaking things again. I'm planning to use an older version like 2017 since our instructor approved any version that works on Win10 or 11.

Ytf are half of the Balkans and Eastern Europe advanced while the other half isn't? Aren't most of those countries the lapdogs of NATO?

I couldn't get Lutris to run .exe files for some reasons. Is there any "Lutris for Dummies" sort of guide?

[–] asdasd201@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I asked them about VDI, and they asked me back what is it. Not surprising considering every semester course choosing becomes a nightmare.

I will use it for doing homeworks and exams, so speed isn't my concern.

In my CAD class, the instructor requires explicitly AutoCAD because "that's the industry standard." As we know, AutoDork are a bunch pricks who refuses to get up from Microslop's lap, so I am in a tight spot rn.

Should I use a VM to run or would ACAD Web do the trick? Honestly, I can even try to push my luck with another CAD program that supports .dwg files.

Russia trains teenage influencers to churn out pro-war content

...

"We have created a huge team of kids, who understand how to broadcast government values and our organisation's values," Vladislav Golovin, a former soldier and chief of the general staff of Russia's Young Army cadets movement, said in a statement released by the group.

In a promotional video from the event, children were shown cheering a cadet racing against Golovin to see who could reload a sniper rifle the fastest.

Another organisation, the Movement of the First, runs competitions offering rewards for teenagers with the best blogs and biggest followings. 'Easy to radicalise'

The training camps are part of what Keir Giles, director of the UK-based Conflict Studies Research Centre, calls a "concentrated campaign to restore the prestige of the Russian military."

...

"These 14–16-year-olds have grown up in an environment where they have never known anything other than Putinism. This is their reality, and so we should not be surprised if these new efforts to spread information reflect that reality," he told AFP.

...

Social media content can be "direct and radical" or "very subtle, aimed not at generating support for Russia, but at decreasing solidarity with Ukraine," said Dietmar Pichler, a disinformation and propaganda analyst at INVED.

At the training camp in Moscow, the Young Army cadets were quick to grasp the power of their new skills.

"When you are the one behind the camera filming the entire process, making audiences happy, you realise ... you are the one who has aroused these emotions in people," a girl said in a promotional clip published by the organisers.

Some of the comrades who saw my posts and comments know where I live, but for those who don't know, I live in one of the worst parts of the Global South.

The country became a US land base right after its founder leader's death, and the current government is speedrunning its collapse. It was always a horrible place to live if you were not one of the ruling class elites (govt officials, landowners, bourgeoisie, and their relatives). And anyone who doesn't fit the “ideal citizen” bill gets brutally oppressed, which is something inherited from the predecessor state. Most of the brilliant minds got murdered because of this politics, and the remaining people became self-centered opportunists.

Combining all these factors, we have got masses who are,
—Protesting the govt and getting brutalized and getting their future ruined (I am one of them),
—Agitators who cry over social media but refuse to help the protesters because either they see themselves as too important or they are justifiably scared of their future,
—Ignorant of the situation because they have seen the previous governments and believe nothing will ever happen,
—Scum of humanity who's profiting off of the decline.

The last two people are, unfortunately, the majority of the people. They have been pushed to those roads by the state and the foreign actors for paving the way for the collapse of the state. Why aren't we educating them? The leftist movements were strong during the 60s and early 70s, but NATO pushed the button, and the state has been cracking down on us like we are a crime syndicate. Btw, the crime rates are at an all-time high because of these factors.

While we are struggling for literal survival, the current govt is selling the country's lands, assets, and even its people. We are dying by natural disasters, drought, unaffordable living standards, murders, drug overdoses, and workplace safety violations; our govt rubs their hands, calculating how to profit off of it. This is literal colonial government behavior, and it consists of dumb village fucks who can't see farther than their noses.

I've tried, comrades; I've really tried for a better future. But with an oppressive regime and its blind followers, that's all I can do. I am tired; I want out, but the West refuses me because I am a “filthy barbarian” while accepting literal baby killers, and AES states are averse to me because I am from the semi-periphery with a comprador government. I feel I am trapped in Purgatory's border with Hell. Not only that, but I don't even feel safe for my life; I might get killed randomly by anything, but I still try to hold on to that strain of hope.

[Opinion] Visa-free visits to China are a risk for Canadians

[Op-ed by Irwin Cotler, international chair of the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights; and Mehmet Tohti is the executive director of the Uyghur Rights Advocacy Project.]

Archived link

China’s new visa-free policy for Canadians may appear to signal openness. In reality, it exposes Canadians to risks our government has found difficult to mitigate.

Consider Huseyin Celil, a Canadian citizen illegally detained in China for two decades.

Mr. Celil, a peaceful advocate for the rights of the Uyghur people, travelled to Uzbekistan in 2006, where he was detained and forcibly transferred to China. There, he was convicted on baseless “terrorism” charges in a sham trial condemned by Canada.

China has continued to refuse to recognize Mr. Celil’s Canadian citizenship, thereby denying him the basic protections owed to him under international law, including consular access. His family in Canada has been without meaningful communication or reliable information about his condition for almost two decades. Their uncertainty is continuing; their suffering is immeasurable.

His case is an enduring injustice and test of Canada’s capacity to protect its citizens abroad.

...

It exposes a contradiction: How can a state that denies a Canadian citizen his rights simultaneously claim to welcome Canadians?

...

For those engaged in human rights advocacy, political activity, or public criticism of the Chinese Communist Party, this [visa-free visits to China] creates a major vulnerability at the border. They may face increased risks of refusal of entry, disappearance or imprisonment.

For many Canadians in these diaspora communities, the question is no longer “Can I travel?” but “Will I be safe if I do – and will my country help me if I am not?” This risk is not confined to diaspora communities. If Canadian citizenship can be ignored in Mr. Celil’s case, it can be ignored in others’.

When a foreign state can detain a Canadian with impunity and deny their Canadian citizenship, the protection that citizenship is meant to guarantee erodes for everyone.

...

The new visa-free policy intersects with a broader pattern of surveillance, intimidation and foreign interference. The Foreign Interference Commission concluded that **China “stands out as the most persistent and sophisticated foreign interference threat to Canada.” **Beijing targets democratic institutions, politicians, and the diaspora through intelligence services to advance its interests and manipulate Canadian politics. The PRC views Canada as a high-priority target, not only for foreign interference, but transnational repression, in violation of Canadian sovereignty and security.

...

Twenty years after Mr. Celil’s abduction, we call on the government of Canada to raise his case and to:

  • Engage in high-level diplomatic representations to seek proof of life.
  • As the home country, provide the necessary diplomatic and consular assistance and remedy. We likewise call on China, as the host country, to honour its obligations for that purpose.
  • Restore family contact, including at least one phone call with his wife and children in Canada with all deliberate speed.
  • Renew efforts to secure his release and reunite him with his family here.

These are not extraordinary demands. They are the minimum obligations owed to any Canadian citizen.
