Are you insane? (It's a joke, said joyfully, no harm intend) Lightning is the wand that has the most base damage of them all and that scales the most (with frosting) with upgrades. It is objectively the best wand to upgrade for highest damage per shot. And, yeah, I might've been too tough with grass wand (as said) but it's definitely not A tier

Alr figured it out, as someone commented it, but thanks.

It just dies most of the time. "guy"'s actually quite sad

No, not everything. For example: Ring of Elements, arguably Ring of Tenacity, Ring of Wealth while ascending, Sandals of Nature, Alchemist's toolkit, for some reason the Amulet of Yendor, blocking enchantment (it's a joke, it's trigger chance is really rare and it gives low shield for a small amount of turns. If you upgrade the weapons to make it more effective you won't need the shield, enemies just die) and all the shards (free achievement or gold)

You can befriend a bee (it will follow you around and even go between floors with you) if you throw an elixir of honeyed healing. I thing Yog-Dzewa is an otherworldly demon that got the Yendor amulet and it uses it to grow in power with it. As the dwarf king says, it's power over this world is limited. Maybe it wants the amulet to conquer this dimension; is what I thing an otherworldly god that has limited power but can gain more with the amulet would try to do. Also, the dwarf king's mission as of right now is to stop Yog-Dzewa's minions from arising. And it's not like the king wants the amulet for just that, keeping Yog-Dzewa at bay, he uses it to controll the minds of the whole city. Probably they sent you down there to stop the dark magic from below, aka return the amulet of Yendor to the surface, as if not, its dark magic would probably start leaking onto the surface, and that'd be bad. I think that the amulet isn't the one that's resisting to be freed, I think it's Yog controlling the amulet the one that empowers the enemies and beckons them to you. But that's just my theory...

Update: killed it without a problem. It even gave me the 320 bestiary entries achievement. It had healing pot, sowilo scroll and some gold. Setup:

Ok, I see the problem. You were wearing a scale armor instead of a +11 scale armor

H O W- oh. Wand of blasting, I see

[-] Vencedor@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Same, but when multiple appear, or they shoot you off screen, or you just can't dodge it you just want them gone. Also, why a magic driven character has the most hp out of every enemy in the demon halls? And who does it have a (really big) damage reduction (yes, it is damage reduction, not defense, as magic attacks are also affected by it) when charging? I just hate that guy, so unfair most of the time

Na u actually can't but it might count as an enemy internally or smth dunno didn't check. Found it in the template, so put it in the best tier.

Go for corrosive almost ever. It's op if you know how to use it. I'd imbue it with your mage staff. The more max charges your corrosive wand can have, the better, and the staff gives you one more max charge on the wand you imbue. It deals so much damage and, as it is AOE, you can take multiple enemies at once. Takes some skill over how the gas expands (it expands differently in tunnels) and on when to use it, but if you know how, it is absolutely powerful and arguably the best staff (or the second best) in the game.
