Whatever interface you're using isn't following markdown standards then. Markdown uses two line returns for the text to show up on a new line. This is what it looks like for everyone else.

The [bridge] would not open until Ottawa "treats the United States with the Fairness and Respect that we deserve", Trump wrote on social media.

According to the project's website, the bridge is being funded by the Canadian government but will be publicly owned by both Canada and Michigan.

Okay, I guess Canada can invoice Trump for half of the cost.

You need to put a double space at the end of a line if you use only a single return, or two returns for the text to appear on a new line with more spacing between.
