Eric "my new theory of physics has not maths in it" Weinstein?

But commissioning a porn artist is hard as they lost their payment providers and bank accounts, while the slop machines got off with a american authors only slap on the wrist.

The LW types not that much, at least not more than your average online rightwinger I think.

Also they have memory holed that Scott claimed stopping smoking would help with covid. Not because there was proof of it, but just because he dislikes smokers. Maximum truth seeking my ass.

Dont worry, other Scott (no the other other one), is saying it will not be a problem.

Taxis dating and food. Love how the 'innovation' of AI is now just going after the uberfication targets of last time.

And the manifesto but just makes me think that this will be the first AI to attempt a mass shooting. Unhinged ahistorical manifesto usually precludes that. 'Roman siegeworks' what? (This isnt about siegeworks, it is about roman discipline, they should have thought about a defensive wall from the start. (It even has a technical name which I have forgotten). Literally the wrong conclusion imho. And if you look at the wiki page, the whole story about them building the defenses in the night is just made up (also the word is 'Contravallation' (which was also in the manifesto image, I need new glasses)).

Also think the step from 'victorious empire' to 'empire laying in ruins' the next paragraph is just bad writing.

And a last thing, the whole fadeing in of the text/images on the site is annoying, and also breaks for me at times. Causing the images to fade in and out randomly. "Made by sleep-deprived engineers and sheer will" that tracks.

"Behind a one-way mirror," They are watching you eat.

Could also be daughter from munchausen tbh. Or she is making stuff up as people mocker her for the spiritual attack thing she claimed earlier (which also affected her kid).

I miss mp3s being widely available. The lack of easy piracy also coincided with me just spending less money on music at all. (Lot of other factors as well).

However I think some of those other streaming services provide lot better rates per song for the artists than Spotify.

This has been a problem for a while esp with podcast providers, who put ice ads in podcasts and then the podcasts get blamed. (Despite having very little control over it, and the control also often being ignored).

[–] Soyweiser@awful.systems 5 points 2 days ago

Dont know about that incident, but that is different than scanning for csam which is different than scanning for faces which is different from feeding your images into an genAI training set.

You could think that they are doing all this anyway (which I think the AI only companies do btw, vut doubt the bigger ones do, esp Apple).

Somebody got fed up they were only evaluated on "%of people who adopted AI". This feels very malicious compliance to me.

Via reddits sneerclub. Thanks u/aiworldism.

I have called LW a cult incubator for a while now, and while the term has not catched on, nice to see more reporting on the problem that lw makes you more likely to join a cult.

https://www.aipanic.news/p/the-rationality-trap the original link for the people who dont like archive.is used the archive because I dont like substack and want to discourage its use.

As found by @gerikson here, more from the anti anti TESCREAL crowd. How the antis are actually R9PRESENTATIONALism. Ottokar expanded on their idea in a blog post.

Original link.

I have not read the bigger blog post yet btw, just assumed it would be sneerable and posted it here for everyone's amusement. Learn about your own true motives today. (This could be a troll of course, boy does he drop a lot of names and thinks that is enough to link things).

Original title 'What we talk about when we talk about risk'. article explains medical risk and why the polygenic embryo selection people think about it the wrong way. Begrudgingly Yeast (@begrudginglyyeast.bsky.social) on bsky informed me that I should read this short story called 'Death and the Gorgon' by Greg Egan as he has a good handle on the subjects/subjects we talk about. We have talked about Greg before on Reddit.

I was glad I did, so going to suggest that more people he do it. The only complaint you can have is that it gives no real 'steelman' airtime to the subjects/subjects it is being negative about. But well, he doesn't have to, he isn't the guardian. Anyway, not going to spoil it, best to just give it a read.

And if you are wondering, did the lesswrongers also read it? Of course: https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/hx5EkHFH5hGzngZDs/comment-on-death-and-the-gorgon (Warning, spoilers for the story)

(Note im not sure this pdf was intended to be public, I did find it on google, but might not be meant to be accessible this way).

Some light sneerclub content in these dark times.

Eliezer complements Musk on the creation of community notes. (A project which predates the takeover of twitter by a couple of years (see the join date: https://twitter.com/CommunityNotes )).

In reaction Musk admits he never read HPMOR and he suggests a watered down Turing test involving HPMOR.

Eliezer invents HPMOR wireheads in reaction to this.
