Students to the rescue. I don't know why those paper straws were so badly designed either.

Britain does rank higher than the USA (but lags Ireland and others) on this democracy ranking.

Got this earlier today so just a heads up. They use an Irish sounding name in the message but you can see that the sender isn't legitimate, it's from a wrong email domain. Also the link is not a DPD domain nor a .ie tld, but they have included those elements that might catch some out.

I wonder which grows first, the hair or the boobs.

Zoteo is really good. Mehdi Hasan seems to be one of Britains best journalists.

Yes. The universe must think I need the exercise.

A nice day in Galway today, except for taking the wrong bus home afterwards!

The Irish people detained by Israel are John Connellan, Michael Fix, Colm Byrne, Fiacc Ó Brolcháin, Martin Guilfoyle, Robert Murphy and Cat Graham.

I usually shop at ALDI when I have transport. Otherwise I order online delivery from Dunnes. I'm finding that I'm spending a fair bit more with Dunnes, but I'm also getting more delivered since I can spend a few days adding things to my basket online.

Dunnes have cheaper / own-brand alternatives that seem to compare well with ALDI (eg tins of chickpeas, chopped tomatoes). Any experiences yourselves? I'm wondering if any one place is really cheapest these days or if it's only minor differences.

It seems too simple at first but if you left school with poor Irish then I think you'll get a fair few pointers. That said, they do say on the first page that it's' not a text book and to use a dictionary / grammar support if you want more, or to find a course through Conradh na Gaeilge.

It doesn't come with audio but does have a two-page guide at the back for pronounciation. Eg: "á - like 'a' in call". There's a sequel called Irish is Fun-tastic which has a similar layout but more advanced and includes grammar, exercises etc.

I just buy in Aldi because I have easy transport to there. But there are probably better deals out there I don't know of. I'm limited to Sensodine for my sensitive teeth coz I can't even handle a cold glass of water otherwise.

The US dominated world sucked in a lot of ways,

Agreed

but at least it was stable.

Highly debatable.

I do the same thing for the same reason with toiletries: toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, shampoo and body wash. It just annoys me to run out of them so one wall is just stacked with stuff like that. And like yourself, other people will use them so I can't really over do it. I aim to buy a one year supply once per year.

I know some people used places like Musgraves to buy things for their business (or their homes, bought through the business) but I'm not sure how much cheaper they are these days.

Ah, sin uafásach gan dabht.

I gComhaontú Aoine an Chéasta sa ré réamhshruthaithe i 1998, foráladh go ndéanfaí iarracht srianta a dhéanfadh díspreagadh nó a bheadh ina chonstaic ar chothú agus ar fhorbairt na teanga a bhaint ar shiúl. Foráladh freisin go n-oibreodh Rialtas na Breataine chun teacht ar sheirbhís ar Theilifís na Gaeilge (mar a bhí, TG4 anois) ó thuaidh.

Ní raibh sé sin ar eolas agam 🤦🏻‍♂️

“Tá sé scannallach, beagnach 30 bliain ar aghaidh ó Chomhaontú Aoine an Chéasta, go bhfuil RTÉ iad féin ag déanamh socruithe clár teilifíse a cheannach agus a chur ar fáil trí Ghaeilge, agus ansin bac a chur ar an gclár sin do phobal na Gaeilge atá lonnaithe sna sé chontae,” dúirt sé.

Aontaím leo céad faoin gcéad.

I must give Sionnach a go. I have it installed but never got around to it. Thanks for the nudge!

Buntús Cainte is available online for free as far as I know (Youtube, and some of the language apps have the audio course included). I really like that one too and I have all three books/CDs. It's a bit dated in some ways, but the blas on the speakers is fantastic.

They stream high-fidelity audio (256Kbps) and have no ads.
