Im sure youre right. My point is thats not even a niche topic. A quick Google estimates there are 21 million viewers PER GAME every week. There are literally hundreds of millions of fans of the nfl, but even a subject so popular can't maintain a healthy community on lemmy, how are these niche topics supposed to stand a chance at survival?

I look at the nfl community here. It really only gets a handful of posts on Sunday and that's it. It blows my mind that there isn't more engagement

Ha we used to have a wood carved penis in college. It was awarded to the guy who was being the biggest dick and they had to keep it as a reminder of their shame

We called it biggus dickus

I went to a restaurant recently that asked me to pay my bill with the QR code on the tablet. Scanned it, and the first thing it did was ask for my phone number to verify my "account" by sending me a code.

The server didn't understand that I wasn't going to do that, and they needed to run my credit card like normal or I wasn't paying.

The problem is, you used to be able to comfortably live that life. Now if you stay at the same company, your wages won't increase at a rate to sustain your life style. Companies care way more about acquiring talent than retaining talent, so you need to move around to make enough money
