The founding fathers do not represent an America that exists to serve landowning white men, at least not to the majority of the country. To many people, they symbolize something else entirely that is bigger and better than the men that they actually were, something noble, independent, freedom-loving, bold, courageous, and all that. Again, regardless of how true it is, they serve as an idea at this point.

But for you they serve as the opposite sort of symbol, one of oppression, greed, selfishness. The founding fathers were both of these, and what they represent to different people depends on perspective and world view.

Maybe, but the only reason this is notable is because of an uptick that is from the literal opposite of Christian right wing.

It depends on the area you live. You get a little further from the cities and there is a very normal mix of families wherever you go and consequently much less of the type of judgement being discussed in this thread. Cities tend to collect single people or people without kids, and frankly, raising kids in an urban setting is much more challenging so fewer people do it or they move out when they start a family.

Maybe I'm not understanding your comment, but in certain contexts, gender identity is not relevant but biological sex IS, such as in treatment or early diagnosis of cancers that are specific to one sex or the other. Hospitals need to be able to communicate verbally and in email or written correspondence about these things, but if language is obfuscated to the point where it is not clear what that individual's risks are (based on their sex), then it is only that individual who will be worse off for it. This point doesn't need to be extrapolated to larger contexts for political power, but it should also not be ignored because of possible implications to larger gender identity questions.

It seems like "lib" is considered right wing on Lemmy. I'm still trying to figure it out. But really right wing or left wing depends on where you stand.
