Why is it that when democrats don't get what they want they lash out against the actual left, instead of the far-rightists (who are actually making things worse)?

I still see democrats blaming "Bernie bros" for costing them the election, which is seriously wrong.

I wouldn't be surprised if eventually some of them begin to blame "the woke" for their defeats

I mean, the US also supported the Guatemalan genocide and appartheid South Africa, yet nobody gives a crap.

The word "liberal" is associated with the right everywhere except the US.

As someone from Latin-America, I think this happens for a number of reasons, including:

1. The legacy of colonialism: The spanish caste system left a strong imprint on latin american culture tha hasn't disappeared yet. This basically boils down to: Ligth skin good, dark skin bad. T

2. Right-wing propaganda through the internet: The terms "SJW", "Woke" "Forced diversity" and whatnot have become very widespread in the hispanic internet. You can go to any hispanic forum and you will find people complainig about "wokies ruinning their videogames/movies, etc"

3. US-backed anti-socialist propaganda: The US pretty much killed all leftist movements in Hispanic-america during their infancy. When it didn't kill them, it still acted with hostility towards them. On the contrary, far-right movements were tolerated if not supported directly. This has created the perfect environment for the far-right to prosper.

There are probably other reasons, but these are almos certainly involved

As an amateur artist, mastodon is really not friendly to newcomers like me.

I had to figure out what an instance was and pick one (I chose mastodon.art since I was interested in that)

After wondering why I couldn't find other people's accounts, it turned out that I shouldn't have picked that instance because it had defederated from almost anyone else.

So now I had to create another account in another instance, which turned out to be so full my posts were not getting any traction.

With Bluesky I just created an account and I immediately gained a few followers

It is just not worth the hastle.

Now watch as all the corporations that paused their advertising slowly return to the platform.

And all of that is a consequence of demonizing and extinguishing all the left-wing movements in the US. And the democratic party is complicit in that.

It certainly says something about the average american that they are more willing to tolerate a fascist than a socialist.

This is the main problem with the democratic party. They are always tryign to please the far-right, but they are unwilling to compromise with the far-left

Most of those left-wing governments in Latin-America were democratically elected. The US had no problem supporting the far-right dictatorships that came afterwards.

An apology is meaningless if democrats are not willing to support any left-wing movement in Latin America. And that includes those who identify as socialists.
