Yeah the driver situation is not the best on Linux, because nVidia doesn't make official OpenSource Linux driver's. It's better the last months, but not that ewsy, as on Windows. It's a lot better with AMD regarding driver's on Linux, but to find a good Laptop with AMD graphics is not that easy.

I have played before with DX12 but had visual glitches, when something moves fast. But never had issues with Vulkan on Linux. Additionally for some reason, i have a little bit more fps, as on Windows on the same Laptop (Linux 64 fps, Windows 56fps).

But I don't have Windows installed anymore, because I don't need it.

Anyhow, if I don't miss "the story", it will be fine for me.

Game freeze after landing (discuss.tchncs.de)

In my case, the game freeze after the landing sequence on the planet, when i leave the pod. Playing via steam on Manjao Linux.

However, if I skip the start and the tutorial and start directly with Tier 1, everything is fine. Is this a known bug in 1.0?

I have connected my Samsung Q60 to WiFi via WPS. This works fine so far. But when i restart the TV, i have to reconnect every time via WPS again, since the TV doesn't remember the WiFi connection. If it is connected, it works fine so far. If i look at the router, i can see, that it is using always the same MAC address to connect, so this is not the issue.

message "Load missing posts" (discuss.tchncs.de)

Several times per day, i get a message with "Load missing posts" besides the usual "New posts". If I click the message the app seems to get confused and I'm not anymore on the last missing post. Is this some sort of bug?

private/direct messages (discuss.tchncs.de)

Is there currently no way to write or answer direct messages?

Nice test. I like Jerboa, especially the technical implementation. But the Usablity and layout of other apps is much better. That's why my default client is Thunder.

Darktable? It's a RAW developer and photo managing software on Linux, Windows and Mac, a little bit like Adobe Lightroom, but OpenSource. If GPS coordinates are in the RAW, sidecar or jpg files, the photos can be displayed in the map module. Much better, if you have a GPX file and no GPS data embedded, you can assign the photos to the GPX route, as long the timestamp of DateTimeOriginal in Exif is accurate. If the timestamp differs, you can specify the difference.

Maybe Digikam can do the same. But I don't like the KDE framework which is used there. Digikam is available for Linux and Windows (yes, I know it's strange).

If you can selfhost, you can try my SyncMarks AddOn. It will work on any webextension compatible browser, e.g Firefox, Chrome, Chromium, Edge, Brave, Kiwi and so on. You can sync across all Browsers.

The backend is working with selfhosted PHP/MySQL (or SQLITE) stack. If you can't use this, you can fallback to WebDAV as backend, but with limited functionality.

The addon can work together with the standard sync mechanisms in all these browsers, but it's up to you if you want that.

If the addon is not installed, you can access the backend url with any browser and use it as WebApp. With apps like Tasker or HTTPShortcuts, you can share any url, from any to the backend.

I have a similar issue but in my case between KDE and Gnome. KDE is much cleaner by display the fonts as Gnome. But I prefer using Gnome, because of the cluttered interface of most KDE applications.

I have played "Planet Crafter" before, in early access without any issues. But now I have seen that the 1.0 is released. For some reason, after the update, I couldn't get the game to start without a crash.

After playing and testing some things, like other Proton versions, GE-Proton and much more, I was about to give up.

But for some reason, I changed and installed the dev channel (1.0.2.x), instead of the stable 1.0.1 version, the game starts up again!

So if anyone has similar issues, you should try to switch to the dev version. Maybe this solves the problem.

BTW: My startup string is gamemoderun mangohud %command%

Devider between posts? (discuss.tchncs.de)

If i remember correctly, there was some space between posts in early versions. On 0.2.9 in card view, there is no space. Is there some way to get back this post divider, so that I can easier see where one post ends and a new one begins?

By default, according to the RFC 6238 standard, they are generated every 30 seconds. But this time step can manually set to faster intervals. However faster as 30 seconds is not very user friendly. RFC 6238

Update every day? (discuss.tchncs.de)

After starting Steam, every day it starts a Update for Satisfactory for near 120 - 170MB. Are there really every day new updates?

https://roundcube.net/ is the main webside. You can download the complete *.tar.gz file from https://github.com/roundcube/roundcubemail/releases. Screenshots are at https://roundcube.net/screens/

Hmm sounds like a Webmail client, like Roundcube. Luckily (at least from my point of view) it has no 'unified inbox', but you can have as many mail accounts you want, with one login, from different vendors. You can selhost it easily. I use it on a Raspberry Pi with one login and have then access to gmail, yahoo and some other accounts.

To mimic a 'unified inbox' you can forward all the different accounts, to one 'major' account, so that you receive every mail in this inbox. Than you can create a 'sending alias', to answer the incoming mails with the proper SMTP service. Nothing easier than that with Roundcube.

Feel free to try my SyncMarks. It's available for any Desktop browser and can sync across all Browsers. The backend is working as Web GUI.

Backend: https://codeberg.org/Offerel/SyncMarks-Webapp

Browser Extension: https://codeberg.org/Offerel/SyncMarks-Extension

I don't know what happens with manifest v3, because the Mozilla variant is not compatible to Chromium. Maybe I have to use 2 independent branches. But I try to avoid that. Manifest v3 is a big mess of bullsh*t.

But anyway feel free to try it. You are welcome.

Mark as read on scroll (discuss.tchncs.de)

Currently I'm trying to evaluate a handful of Lemmy apps. Is there any way to have a 'Mark as read on scroll' feature? I couldn't find such a feature after a first look in the settings.

[-] MoLoPoLY@discuss.tchncs.de 16 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)
  • Eternity, but clicking in an Notification E-Mail on the Lemmy Inbox link, does not open Eternity on the Inbox.
  • Voyager is also fine, but i has strange look on Android, looks more like made for Apple.
  • Jerboa is nice to, but lacks options to change the fonts
  • Sync for Lemmy is nice, but its closed source and has ads (can be removed when you pay enough 20,99€)
  • Some other apps in the Playstore, but most of them are not worth to use them
  • Thunder seems to be nice, but I really miss 'Mark as read on scroll' feature, which is very important for me
  • there is 'Commit for Lemmy' on the play store, most features I want are there but a) its not available on F-Droid and b) crash from time to time
  • 'Boost for Lemmy' looks really nice. I couldn't find a setting for 'Mark as read on scroll'. Maybe it's enabled by default. If that's true, I would keep this app. There is a option to remove ads for 3.59€ which is a fine for me. But I have not seen any ad as of now. Be aware that there are 6 Trackers in this app, but since I use PiHole, it's not really important for me.

Currently im using mostly Eternity and hope that some bugs get sorted out sooner or later. But Boost would be good next candidate, if 'Mark as read on scroll' is supported. Arch f not, the next best alternative is Jerboa.
