My parents spent most of their time getting drunk and trying to be 18 again. I wouldn't really call that a good setup for their kids.

In the US we take like four to six years of Spanish and walk away with "donde estas la biblioteca" and "donde esta el baño."

Ah yes, the great American Bengal tiger. Our symbol of obedience and power. A cultural cornerstone you might say.

Yes the world would be a better place if people looking to profit in the world didn't have to ensure that their products were safe, regulated, and taxed appropriately. Business owners should just be able to make their own rules.

Nah man I'd say that shit it stupid too. It's difficult to build a lithium mine in the United States for pretty good reasons, especially surrounding regulation and safety.

Capitalism necessitates that the product and the profit are always the most important thing. We'll never really get rid of this issue until we remove the profit motive, and we'll never really see the full view of capitalism without accepting that these corporations don't care about their workers or their customer base at all. They never will, because that doesn't impact profit. They will feign empathy and sincerity until they have met their quarterly profit goal, and the public will clap and say "wow, finally somebody fights for us!" And continue to consume.

Underrated comment

There is a carpet store and restaurant near my house, and in the three years I've lived here I can't recall seeing anyone buy anything or even visit either store a single time.

Once my partner and I actually walked over to check it out and the carpet store was closed and all of the windows were covered. It was like 4 in the afternoon on a Wednesday, so I can't imagine why it would be closed.

There's supposedly a lot of Russian gang activity in my area, so I'm assuming it's just a front for them but I've never really confirmed it.

I think it's important to remember that musk has never actually done anything to innovate the companies he's been a part of. He didn't create PayPal, he just bought his way in and made a series of dumb suggestions. He didn't create Tesla, he bought Tesla right after they had fine tuned their models, and then he made a series of changes that likely resulted in a worse product.

Elon Musk is not a good businessman, he's just rich and has a habit of purchasing profitable companies. Anyone could do this with his wealth. I'm not even really convinced that he's offered many technical ideas or designs for any of his companies, as it seems that would be the first thing he would mention every single time someone brought up one of his companies.

Politicians love their bribes more than they love the planet, so that's probably not going to happen. Dems and cons both
