Medieval communities did not engage in capitalism or any sort of internal market economy. Your assumption is that history defaults to a modern western mindset where everyone is highly individualistic and only interested in themselves. Yes you would give your neighbor eggs because you know theyll give you nails. Its called a "gift economy" by historians. Anyone who didnt help the community would be ostracized

Ignoring the obvious joke you missed. If someone being a little rude is enough to make you completely give up on your ethical/moral stance, you need to grow a spine dude .

If a gay person is an ass to me i dont decide to become homophobic and blame it on them.

Yeah it was a little weird wording. Im not in the trades. Trying to be vague because internet, but while I work WITH plumbers and HVAC specialists, and have previously worked in the field, Im not one myself.

I work in the trade industry. Most of these people are conservative boomers. The things these guys say are absolutely horrifying. It isnt just the older guys though. Its the blight of converativism. These dudes say things that sound like they should be said by someone 1000+ years ago or in Saudi Arabia or something. Im talking about not just racism, homophobia, mysoginy but also honor killings, reasons rape can be justified, flying into a blood rage because you feel another has offended your masculinity. Moving to rural America (even in the north) has been incredibly eye opening to how insanely backwards parts of our society is. You have no idea until you see it.

Youre overthinking it. Thats the joke. Its funny because its a silly proposal of how it got named

Id like to inform everyone that the cruel way they treat animals is how every single animal agriculture company treat their animals. 99% of animals in farms on earth are farmed in a way that meets the "factory farmed" description. Those "certified human" stickers on your grocery store meat is a label made by a board composed entirely of the CEOs of those exact companies theyre supposed to be regulating.

Its so dumb. "Human nature" according to who? Ignoring that appeal to nature is a logical fallacy its also just...fake. humans are social obligate primates. We naturally form small communal groups. We've interacted cooperatively and altruistically since before we were anatomical humans. If capitalism is human nature why did it take 19,700 years for anatomically modern humans to invent it. Because for one thing, commerce is not the same as capitalism. And even commerce is somewhat recent. Most of human history we didnt barter, pre-money barter economies are a myth. We had "gift economies" where we simply helped and gave each other what we needed. Without explicitly demanding a return but understanding others will help you out the same when you need it.

Tankies wpuld literally support the reincarnation of hitler if he said "america bad" they worship genocidal dictators on the sole grounds they oppose America. They hold literally no leftists values. They just like authority

Props for having an unpopular opinion. I think its interesting a self proclaimed anarchist has such an incredibly totalitarian belief. Also one that sounds rooted in a deeply right wing/bigoted style of thinking. "Men are inherently violent so we need to castrate them against their will to fit our view" wouldnt the much more logical conclusion be to try and change culture to one that discourages toxic masculinity? Rather than believing in a massive violation of human rights

People will complain about climate change than complain about LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE ATTEMPT to improve it. Isnt this what people are always saying needs to happen?? That individual action isnt the way but we need legislature to fix everything? What did people think would happen if governments try to fight climate change? That our lives would in no way shape or form be affected?

[-] KaleDaddy@reddthat.com 11 points 1 year ago

I think meat is murder, but i still think we should kill billionaires.

The same way I wouldn't kill a cow for a burger, but Id defend myself if some wild animal was trying to kill me.

[-] KaleDaddy@reddthat.com 11 points 1 year ago

Exactly but talk to anyone, even the enlightened internet people who share climate change articles on here, and they seem convinced that the only way to fight climate change is to literally do nothing and wait for corporations to have their hearts grow like the grinch. They will aggressively atrack any suggestion that we are going to have to actually do something and also change out lifestyle.

It is going to take massive change, collective effort, and organizing. As well as individual changes to our daily lives. Even if those corporations and politicians all had a magic change of heart. The policies and economic changes would still result in a massive upheaval of our daily lives.
