That's a weird way to say that TikTok didn't allow the government access to the types of data that they store on children

No, I think you misunderstood, and want to turn a very important debate into a pedantic point about sheer ratios without wider context.

Increased gun ownership has been repeatedly shown to increase gun violence. That's a fact. To say that it's "responsible" to increase or even maintain the levels of gun ownership is false.

To say or imply that most gun ownership is responsible is like saying that most cigarette smoking is responsible...except when you consider every fucking horrible ill it wreaks upon society.

You shouldn't run your mouth with false information that is so "very simple and scooped", because that misses the entire fucking point.

Be less simple, simpleton.

I was partial to Beat Bionic.

Saw him live in Austin in the 90s...pure gold

Did you mean Battle: Los Angeles with Aaron Eckhart?

[-] Jericho_One@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

You keep talking about this single case, and I keep talking about lead prosecutors in comparable cases.

Sounds low to comparable cases to me

I wonder how many hours were billed for...

Didn't even include the default messages app that most Android phones ship with 🤦

I think you may have missed the connection to the first amendment.

I assumed you believed in the conspiracy theory "slippery slope", I was wondering why you think the slope isn't slippery for the first amendment, but just the second?

[-] Jericho_One@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Sorry, I said hate speech as an example, but you are correct, hate speech is generally only used as a way to increase sentences of people that commit other hate crimes.

However, there are many instances that speech is limited by the government, and they don't violate the first amendment.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_free_speech_exceptions#%3A%7E%3Atext%3DCategories_of_speech_that_are%2Claw%2C_true_threats%2C_and_commercial?wprov=sfla1

So, I ask again with the new context:

We currently have limitations on free speech, and yet we still have free speech. And we currently have limitations on the second amendment (you can't own a nuclear or biological weapon legally).

So how would a couple more limitations completely remove the right to own arms?

[-] Jericho_One@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Hate speech is currently criminalized, in certain situations. And it hasn't resulted in the first amendment rights of all citizens being removed.

So why would "well regulat[ing]" purchases of fire arms lead to the removal of 2nd amendment rights?

For me, the side swiping seems more smooth on the curved screen. I never really noticed missed or over inputs.

While I'm not sure I "prefer" them, I do think it gave the phone a more premium look and feel. There's something about the side scrolling content scrolling around the curve and off the display, and the device felt...thinner, I guess.

And ever iPhone has a flat screen, so the differentiator on the front of the device was instant.

It's definitely got downsides though, and I totally get it.

Yeah, glass technology is definitely getting better. But I can never unsee even mirco-scratches, and I don't tend to use a case, so I just take comfort in a screen protector.

I didn't hate the liquid application of screen protectors on curved screens either...it was kinda cool to set those up (even though the fumes were kinda bad).
