For the curious

10G Base LR: It's a type of fiber standard that runs a 10 gigabits. and looks like this

QSFP 40G: It's a DIFFERENT type of fiber standard that runs at 40 gigs and looks like this

I only know the basics of fiber networking but I know that different standards are needed because light refracts differently depending on cable thickness and composition, so standards/variations of the same standard have different maximum length, bandwidth, collision detection, etc.

For example, the type of fiber that you use to connect two offices that are 10 miles apart is going to be very different than the fiber you use to connect your SAN storage to your baremetal ESXI servers.

In essence, OP is asking if he can connect his phone line to the port on the back of the computer, and the answer is "Yes, but it's not that simple, and you probably don't want to do that anyways"

That's a very simplistic and apathetic response to a human being dying ...

I bet you support the death penalty for people that steal a loaf of bread to feed their children as well.

The reality is that it's a very complex issue and while Texas has the right to secure it's borders a humans right to live is a little more important me thinks.

@Madbrad200

Sounds like we're going to need an instance to be hosted outside of the reach of US copywrong law

@skellener

The main problem is that unlike lenny ... kbin does not (yet) have an API ... expect the floodgates to open when that is done (it's being worked on right now)

It doesn't, the implication is that it's not the connection to FB what's making the app not work, but the lack of NTP sync.

Plenty of apps reach out to FB for widgets, or those stupid "share your experience with your friends" buttons that no one uses ... that's why we block them in the first place.

What are we? (kbin.social)

What are we?

What do Lemmy users call themselves? What do Kbin users call themselves? What about Mast?

So far I can't come up with anything better than "Fediziens"

I was about to scream GIMP! To the top of my lungs when I realized the mag I'm in ....

There's an android port called xgimp .... but it doesn't look great.

Guess you could try one of the standard closed source apps? I'd go with Pixlr
