It’s essentially the lemmy version of Apollo for Reddit, which was an iOS only app (different devs though)

But even if you grant the two premises there, that TikTok’s data collection is beyond that of other apps, and that said data is given to the PRC to access, this draft agreement’s solution to those problems is “let us access that collected data instead of them”. It implements measures that would affect future changes to TOS and policies, but I don’t see anything about scaling back what’s collected now. From what I can tell, this is just trying to replace who’s steering the ship. If the solution that “stops the Chinese government from spying on US citizens” just changes the government that’s doing the spying, I don’t see how that helps said US citizens in any way. The CPC isn’t the one who can put me on a no-fly list on a whim.

That’s my fundamental issue with this, as well as the relevant proposed legislation; it’s not a good-faith attempt to protect US citizens.

This is from the community on Reddit. You should be able to grab the torrent file for whichever 5e book you want from there. I would also recommend 5e . tools like the other commenters, even as just a separate reference; as a DM I’ve found it way easier to pull things up quickly, even if I legally own the book that has whatever spell/mob I’m looking for haha.

Actually in my current run (on Balanced) I’ve found that I can’t really do that. If I group sneak towards enemies I can attack with one of my characters, they leave hiding to make the attack, and then typically get spotted and start combat (unless it’s from far enough away that they can re-hide and attack again before the target gets within sight). Then all the involved characters roll initiative, and my character that attacked doesn’t have an action for that turn. Any other members of my party that are hidden can still attack out of combat, but the same situation occurs; they leave hiding to make the attack, get spotted, roll initiative, and then when their turn comes around they don’t have an action (haven’t had the chance to see how this works with extra attack). This could probably be cheesed with super favourable terrain and some pre-planning, but I think at that point you’ve more or less set up an ambush and it’s ok to get some extra benefit out of that.

IMO this is a pretty good way to handle it within a video game context, because it limits the cheese while not totally removing player agency by possibly undoing your attack. Like you said it’s different to how that’s handled in tabletop, but as a DM I’m able to explain how initiative is literally a skill check to see how quick on the draw you are, so my players hopefully don’t feel as cheated if they want to attack first but can’t act before the enemy. I do enjoy how the player urge to get as many free attacks in as possible at the start of combat is the same in both games hahaha.

Honestly, given the length of early access (and the fact that this isn’t a new complaint) I wonder if it’s actually a choice rather than an oversight. My hope would be that it’s not difficult to implement, and can be modded in now and added to the game later. Fingers crossed it’s not due to a technical limitation

It’s too bad the review copies were delayed, but I’m glad reviewers are taking their time with it. If this level of positivity continues I feel like BG3 will be a serious GOTY contender

The wiki lists it as a reaction (which makes sense, that’s what it is in tabletop). Are you familiar with the system to configure your reactions? You can configure your different reactions to trigger automatically, to ask if you want to trigger, or to never trigger. I don’t remember the key to open that menu, but there will be a little box above your inventory/action bar on the right side with the icon for the reaction; if you click that it will open the menu

Personally, divination wizard. It’s very strong in tabletop 5e, and was actually nerfed a decent bit in this game (your portent dice can only be used to replace attack rolls and saving throws, not ability checks, and requires a reaction; in tabletop it actually doesn’t use any action at all). If you’re interested in super optimised builds, I’d actually recommend checking out the various DND 5e class guides and multiclass builds online, for example r/3d6 on Reddit, but bear in mind that various class features might work differently in BG3 or rely on things that only work in a tabletop game

My guess would be it’s a cost-cutting/time-saving measure. Fully voicing all the PC lines would skyrocket the total amount of lines each VO would need to read (think not only of all the dialogue you select, but all the dialogue you don’t, as well as all the dialogue that results from those other options you didn’t pick, and dialogue specific to backgrounds and classes that’s not available to you on a given playthrough). That‘s before accounting for the extra animation and whatnot.

I agree that it would be really cool, but if it’s even half as expensive as I imagine it would be, I understand why it’s not in the game

Baldur’s Gate 3’s being a properly big deal has been great to see. DOS2 got great reviews but I would say it was just barely a mainstream game; I would have to tell my friends about it. Now I’ve got people telling me about things relating to Baldur’s Gate 3. I hope Larian absolutely crushes it here in terms of sales and attention, and if the whole package is as good as we hope I’d love to see some awards come their way too

they’re classified as entertainment instead of news

If you’re referencing the Tucker Carlson defamation suit, that’s not a correct reading of the decision.
