I consider myself pretty keen on scam stuff (well... I didn't buy any crypto so I guess I'm still good here) but man when I saw it I just shook my head an ignored it. I didn't realize it was fake.

Literally does what you want! You WILL lose anything installed in default prefix, like games/apps, if you didn't make separate prefixes for them.
Edit: Just saw you're running chromebook, the locations might differ. My notes were for Debian/Ubuntu & their flavors.

I would also shout loudly for Pop! Also tried mint, Ubuntu, and Debian and I had very much the same "wish" as OP. For me, Pop was the clear winner.
honestly the 'pardon' ability needs to go away completely. maybe it made sense before, and/or wasnt abused, but now it just seems prepped to be a tool to release your fellow felons in crime.
