This was a really great answer, and I appreciate your perspective. Things aren't always what they appear to be on the surface (although sometimes they definitely are).

Awesome! I'll check it out! Thanks! :)

I'm going to assume that you don't have kids. Parents will understand where I'm coming from, I think.

  • Contestants are not chefs.
  • Contestants are low-to-mid level income parents.
  • A cupboard filled with a small amount of random ingredients found at a local grocery store. NO exotic ingredients. NO pricey ingredients.
  • Contestants must also incorporate randomly selected 'leftovers' from a pre-cooked meal into their dish.
  • The judges are kids ranging in age from 10-18. NO celebrity judges. NO chef judges.
  • First prize is free groceries for a year.

The Fediverse is decentralized, which means that it cannot (or at least it would be very, very difficult) be shut down by anyone. On an individual level, any user is free to start their own instance or community with their own rules in place should another instance or community become undesirable. If there is something you don't like or that is somehow stifling to you, start your own and make it the way you want it.

If subscribing to one's own interests is an 'echo chamber', then all of us are guilty. If you are going to immerse yourself in 'diversity and understanding' by dunking yourself headfirst into the totality of the human condition without any filters whatsoever....well, you get what you deserve, I guess.

This depends upon the communities you follow. And you have the choice to NOT follow them. I only read the communities that I subscribe to (instead of sorting by 'all'), and it is very rare that I encounter the garbage that you're describing.

Both are correct. I don't see the Fediverse ever becoming as large as the billionaire platform for the precise reason that it isn't run by billionaires with gigantic advertising budgets. As such, the Fediverse will not have the large numbers of users and hence, will be quieter.

That being said, the Fediverse IS an alternative to the billionaire platforms - especially for people who desire smaller, more intimate communities and - perhaps most importantly - controlled and governed by the people who use it.

It looks like elves don't use railings, either. I imagine this was put into their DNA by Eru Iluvatar to maintain population control in Middle Earth.

He's a dwarf. They can spit out axes and stairs and bridges without railings in the blink of an eye.

I'm notoriously tender-hearted. I tear up watching or listening to emotional content all the time. I've never cried at funeral, though...mostly because I'm usually just trying to keep it together so I can be supportive for those who need it. Otherwise, I'm a big softie and it annoys me sometimes, but...it's just how I am, I guess.

Oooh, this looks interesting. Thanks!

I was really interested in trying feedr, but got frustrated trying to install it and moved on to other potential options.

I used to adore the Feedbro extension for Firefox - until I learned that browser extensions are a privacy concern and stopped using them. Unfortunately, I've been unable to find anything similar for the Linux desktop. I just can't seem to find the 'sweet spot' with all the readers I've tried. Some are bloated with features and complicated configurations that I will never use. Others are too simplistic. Still others haven't seen an update in years. I feel like this is an impossible quest.

The readers I have tried (and discarded):

  • Liferea
  • RSS Guard
  • News Flash
  • Feeds
  • Feed Deck
  • Feed Flow
  • Akregator
  • Thunderbird
  • Raven Reader

Here are the features I need:

  • FOSS (obviously)
  • Import/export OPML
  • Scale the size of the UI and all text elements
  • RSS feed discovery
  • Fetch full articles
  • Configure update interval
  • Privacy-conscious
  • Desktop only (I am currently unable to self-host)

Things that would be nice, but I can live without if I have to:

  • Dark mode
  • An uncluttered, two-column display

That's about it. Now tell me that I am asking too much and there's no hope for me. :D

I'm not sure when or where this occurred, but at some point I just became less inclined to speak up on social media. I still do, of course, but now there's this little...cringe....inside of me whenever I do. The sarcasm, the gaslighting, the armchair 'experts' who seemingly exist just to punch holes in whatever opinion I have - this mean-spiritedness has made me far, far less likely to engage in most conversations online. And, I've watch this translate over into my offline life, as well. It seems like my world has become a gigantic minefield where every step could potentially blow up in my face from someone who somehow got offended by something I said, or someone who has made it their life's mission to correct every opinion I have. I just....stopped engaging, for the most part.

What's even worse is that I've found myself exhibiting the exact same sort of behavior from time to time. It's like social media is trying to train me to be argumentative and rude. Everyone tells me that it's 'just the way it is', but I can't help feeling like we can do better....or at least wishing that we could.

As the title says, I'm looking for a nice template to create adventure modules in LibreOffice. Something generic (not made specifically for D&D) with text boxes to read to players, frames for maps, etc. I can't seem to find a single one, and I lack the skills and/or knowledge of how to create one on my own. Can anyone help?
