Matrix. Spin up a conduit server, doesn't tale very long and it works great. Clients arent perfect but the next gen clients are available in beta (element x) and will fix a lot of the issues current gen clients have

While docker is open source I have no idea why systemd nspawn containers aren't more popular. Most systems have this built in without needing to install 3rd party software. And I find using it so much easier. I assign each container an IP address and manage them all with ansible. It provides isolation and convenience while not trying to reinvent the wheel.

I didn't get the one with Bluetooth or WiFi or whatever. Just turn it on and set temp. But yea it isn't the cheapest.

Top of screen at eye level? I'm not sure this scales well with large monitors.

Sometimes I love it sometimes I hate it. Sometimes I hate it at first then grow to love it. Radiohead is a great example of change that I love. First album was mediocre rock, second was much better rock, third was one of the best albums of all time layered... space rock? Then the biggest shift of all to Kid A. Over and over again.

David Bowie is another example of successfully changing sound over and over.

Beastie Boys went from a hardcore band to hip hop.

I know there are examples of bands where I didn't like the change but I guess I remember the ones I like more. Weezer and Smashing Pumpkins are two bands that got worse over time, although they didn't change their sound up quite as much as the above mentioned.

Found this recently and loving it. Only issue I have is it loads every episode of a podcast when you click on the podcast, so if you have a pod with 1000 episodes, you're gonna be waiting a few seconds when you click on it. Makes it feel sluggish.

Antenna pod and other apps load the pod instantly with a handful of episodes and then load more if you scroll. That makes way more sense.

Pronounced it as a soft g in my head the first time I read it, and years later the creator said it was meant to be a soft g, so I feel validated.

When you create an image format, name it whatever you want and if it's any good and I use it, I'll call it what you want

Gentoo is fantastic for me on my home desktop. I love the rolling release nature and customization opportunities. Portage is so powerful.

For all of my work computers I use either ubuntu or kubuntu with sway. I love gentoo but with work devices I don't have time to tinker. There are also many programs I need for work that offer .deb installs that aren't in gentoo repos nor overlays.

For servers I love Debian.

I cycle between 4 pairs of shoes in summer, two pairs of boots in winter, and one pair of all year shoes. I have had them all for over ten years. Tips:

  1. Buy Goodyear welted shoes
  2. Use shoe trees
  3. Don't wear the same pair two days in a row

I also prefer to buy shoes made in UK, Italy, or US but that is just preference for perceived quality and definitely higher paid workers than most countries that mass produce shoes.

If you want a specific recommendation go with Allen Edmond Strandmoks. That's my all year pair. Great shoes.

I've been using secret option 3- netbird. Kernel wireguard support, completely self hostable, and very active development.

#2 - Your Chicago Bears

Chicago’s front seven underperformed in 2022, so the team used free agency to acquire two of the highest-graded players at the position. Tremaine Edmunds arrives from Buffalo after a long-awaited breakout that saw massive increases in his overall (81.9) and coverage (90.0) grades. The latter mark, along with his 10 pass breakups, led all qualified linebackers.

T.J. Edwards comes with less fanfare but was the unsung hero of the Eagles’ elite defense. He played nearly 1,200 snaps and graded above 78.0 against the run, in coverage and as a pass-rusher, which added up to the sixth-best overall grade (81.6) at the position.

Second-year man Jack Sanborn provides a good complement as a rugged, SAM-type linebacker in Matt Eberflus’ 4-3 defense. He showed flashes of talent last year, posting 80.0-plus grades in his last two games.

This group hasn’t played together yet, but the Bears are banking on talent and couldn’t have much more at their disposal.

[Fishbain] Justin Jones on Gervon Dexter: "He's going to be a force in this league. I really do believe that. I haven’t seen anything like him in a very long time, and I don’t want to put anything in a box with him but the closest person I can see him as is like a leaner Linval Joseph."

Bold Predictions? (1337lemmy.com)

We have a few subscribers now, let's see if we can get a discussion going. What are your 2023 bold predictions? Or the next season, 2024?

My bold prediction - Bears compete for wildcard spot in 2023. By 2024 they win the division and go on a long stretch of NFC North dominance.
