On Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee moved forward a bill called the Cooper Davis Act that would make tech companies report users suspected of criminal drug activity to the DEA.

Soon enough no corner of the internet will be safe from fascism and authoritarianism. Between this and eshitification for profit, social media absolutely blows goats.

Don't reuse usernames for accounts. Have throwaway email addresses. Use a VPN, such as PIA that doesn't have logging. Keep personally identifiable information away from your account. These are a few options that can aide in keeping yourself safe. There are more steps you can take, but I'm going to assume for most of the small fish out there, you aren't worth investigating for minir possession charges.

Also push for space colonization, because we need a frontier in order for people to truly choose societies.

We have multiple governments one can choose to live under, but it’s a finite number so they can form a cartel and fix the negotiating terms.

Like, if someone doesn’t like a law that permits total surveillance, they can move to another place that doesn’t have it … unless they all have it.

As the world becomes more tightly integrated into a single power structure, the “marketplace of competition” between legal systems goes away.

So we need to have a world where if a person isn’t getting more out of society than it’s costing them, they can choose to go start a new one with fewer resources but more freedom.
