The question is not "will capitalists do x", it's "is x profitable for the capitalists".

It's even worse. Profitable can still be worked around on a longer time scale, but currently it's 'will I get richer in the next 3 months'. Which is wildly destructive to literally everything. The world, the economy, their own businesses, even their own life and lifestyle. The world is held hostage by the financial equivalent of crack addicts chasing the next high at all costs.

Exactly. We're seeing headline after headline now about people dying because of climate change, and it's evident that the capitalists and the people they pay off are entirely unconcerned so long as they profit.

Are there links for more info about the insulin and lung cancer comments?

i saw something a few weeks ago about some company in china that recently patented a potential cure for diabetes that removed the need for insulin so it might be referring to that. i'll try and find an article about it

edit: here's some stuff about it

idk about hte claim that people are trying to fight it (though tbh as soon as it looks like it might be viable on a large scale they probably will tbh)

I saw that too, but can't locate it. At the same time this came to light, the US started heavily restricting Chinese influence. So I'm not sure there's direct evidence of the pharmaceutical companies lobbying against it, but moreso just a lot of circumstantial evidence. I'll try to find this as well.

The lung cancer reference is about the vaccine that is available in Cuba, but not the US.

i found some links for you and edited my earlier comment

Thank you so much!
