The actual Vi? Not Vim or Neovim? In 2023?
Every other admin I work with uses vi. Not my personal choice, but it seems like lots of people are content still using it.
vi is aliased to vim on most systems, so they're likely unknowingly using Vim.
even if you run vi, the welcome screen says what it actually is

I have probably had them all and then some more. Honestly, I don't care about these fine distinctions.
I'd say that whether the backspace key works properly is a pretty important distinction.

Not that much... only if you have a habit of making many single key typos ;-)
For editing text, better learn all the other ways, too. They are so much more powerful than the deletion of single characters.
