Not only ads, but the content as well.

Many articles are like 5 lines of information and the rest is repetition and fluff. Especially annoying are those "world building"parts.

It was a wonderful summer day in New York. I was sitting in that neat little corner cafe, where they serve pecan pie with a Japanese twist. I scrolled through the news ticker and saw that Prigozhin was dead.

TC; DR Too Clickbait; Didn't Read

[-] agressivelyPassive@feddit.de 3 points 1 year ago

That's not clickbait. It's almost the opposite.

I've accidently shared an ad-laden page before... had no idea thanks to Ublock Origin until someone mentioned it in the comments.

I also don't see paywall notifications thanks to adding a filter list to ublock, lol.

Or after I eat too much pizza and don't wanna read

I kinda wish each link post came with a post bot option. Back in the other place that starts with "r" there'd be hundreds of first comment strings where it was obvious that the article was not read. Titles are likely to be sensationalized and triggering to get you to read the article and the ads. If the content is posted up front the commentary just seems more rich and everyone is spared the ad-saturation.

Not really an issue. Copy the page link, go to archive.ph, run the link. Removes the annoying pop ads and such 99% of the time.

Not OP but for myself I have to say I keep forgetting the archiving sites. I should know better by now but there it is. So thank you for this. Bookmarking it now.

I'm not sure many people actually read past the article title before they share

Or a video that's longer than 5 minutes.

I bet you don't pay for any of your news though.
