A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

11. No misinformation

NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.

Well, mainly because Putin is rich and power hungry. He think he can get the USSR back together, one invasion at a time.

That isn't new either. It's the entire plot of the first Ghost Recon from 2001

I enjoy Zeihan, but he's most definitely NOT a credible Russia expert.

But he is absolutely a noncredibe one, so I guess this meme found a good home.

Listening to Zeihan is a bit of a guilty pleasure. The guys talks about very serious topics with the affection and language of a contender in a reality dating show. I get how casually listening to him, you may get the impression of a balanced thoughtful opinion, but Zeihan is anything but that.

Never seen a Zeihan meme in the wild before.

Zeihan mister "linear extrapolation with no adaption over decades". So i guess you are an expert in everything too.

ps. well it could be because Putin decided to do so and noone will ever really know what happened in that head or what information he was presented at the time

Putin did it because he's an abusive dickwad who thinks it's his god-given right to control Ukraine. That's it. That's the entire explanation.

People keep trying to rationalize his actions, come up with some more respectable reason, because there's no way this much death and suffering could be happening because one guy is an entitled, controlling piece of shit, right?

But in reality, that's how fascism always works. It's always been how it works. Why'd the Nazis invade Europe? Because they were entitled, controlling pieces of shit. Why'd the Soviet Union refuse to let the countries they liberated after WWII go? Because they were entitled, controlling pieces of shit. Why does China want to annex Taiwan? Because Xi's an entitled, controlling piece of shit.

People who try to justify Putin's actions have never dealt with abusive narcissists before, and it shows.

Tankies feel attacked

There are many complex cultural and economical aspects which none of amount for any reason for any sane person. But in that way the complexity is inherently linked to Kremlins unique brainworms and natural stupidity.

It would have been similarly insanely stupid to attack Finland, or Japan, or North Korea. So to draw distinctions to those, trying to understand the biology of Russian brainworms is relevant to the conflict. But no explanation will change the fact Russian decisions are made based on poverty and stupidity.
