I didn't like uninstalling boost. I have used it for years daily. Now I get to use Artemis for Kbin.

Truly a heat breaking experience. I'm on Jerboa until Boost for Lemmy rises from the ashes

i wont uninstall boost for a simple reason: assuming the app still has similar customization options, having my old config still installed should make it easier to transfer to the new app. so ill keep boost for reddit until boost for lemmy arrives :3

You can backup boost's settings. One would hope that most options could then be imported into BfL.

good point, thanks for the hint! im generally wary with config exports tho so ill still keep the app around just in case something goes wrong

May you continue to greener pastures. We await you.

I can still use it, despite the dev putting up a pop-up saying it would stop working after July 1st

From the sad end of one story to the bright beginnings of another ❤️

Still works for me.

Just patch it with Revanced and create a subreddit. Works like a charm.

[-] AaronNBrock@lemm.ee 21 points 11 months ago

You see, I could patch it, but I'm not putting in extra effort to use a platform which clearly doesn't want me there.

[-] ThatBaldFella@lemmy.world 4 points 11 months ago

You don't even have to patch it, creating a subreddit is all you need to do.

[-] deviantgenome@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Can you elaborate on creating a subreddit to keep Boost working? Really do no want to uninstall it.

The API is still fully functional for moderator accounts, including NSFW posts if you're moderating an NSFW subreddit. So, you can create a subreddit, mark it as NSFW, set it to private if you wish, and have a fully functioning Boost app again. This trick probably won't work forever, but enjoy it while it lasts.

Thank you. Will give this a try later.

I personally found Boost to be faster when using my own API key with ReVanced, so that might be the better option(unless being a mod somehow speeds it up)

[-] Slopz@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

As a mod, I haven't noticed any difference in speed before and after API changes.

[-] _user_@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Possibly just on my end, before the API changes Boost started to get really slow, then after patching it with ReVanced it was 10x faster, though it could also be the fact that I reinstalled Boost when patching it.
