In the past, I have been watching many mysterious movies because they are exciting. But life sometimes is hard enough, why should I then at home watch movies or series which are realy brutal. I feel like movies/series always need more crazy shit to be still popular.

I am looking for good funny movies/series which entertain and give you a positive feeling.

I think the world needs more positivity

Star Trek: The Next Generation

Probably the most wholesome and positive of all the Treks. There's a reason it's so loved

What We Do In The Shadows

Both the movie and the series.

The recent series Jury Duty was hilarious and surprisingly wholesome and showed how there are actual good people in the world.

I know it’s kinda corny and basically a big ad for Google but I low key love The Internship. Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn are hilarious together and the movie is about how it’s never too late to change your life and it always just makes me feel good.

Ted Lasso is probably the most wholesome and uplifting show I've seen in a long time.

[-] bowreality@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

Isn’t it? I just did a complete rewatch and I am already wondering when I can do another one. So heart warming.

The Good Place is overall pretty positive. Same with Parks and Recreation as well as Abbot Elementary.

[-] Mr_Buscemi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

The ending of the Good Place is one of those shows that ended perfectly. I can't think of a better way they could have finished the show.

absolutely must watch movie. Deconstructing nihilism is one thing, but after doing that there is a need to advocate for optimistic nihilism, something we all need these days

I know this is a pretty popular one but I don't think I've ever not felt better after an episode or two (or 6) of Futurama. As for movies, Hot Fuzz always has something new and funny you hadn't noticed before on each watch.
I also think many of the studio Ghibli films give off some pretty good vibes (emphasis on the word 'many' though, there are some pretty gut-wrenching ones). Any of the Mr Bean movies or episodes also cheer me up pretty well. ETA: for shows that leave you feeling positive, many of the Star Trek series focus on the good aspects of humanity, and present very meaningful ideas on how to achieve a positive outcome for all. My personal favorites so far are Deep Space 9 and the Next Generation, although Voyager and many of the others are just as good.

Bobs Burgers is hilarious and chaotic, yet simultaneously wholesome and positive comedy. The earlier seasons definitely lean more into the chaos, but even then, the family is such a positive example of semi-dysfunctional people loving each other to the max. Very few couples in TV or movies have anywhere near as good of a relationship as Bob and Linda, and their kids have some of my favorite sibling dynamics of any show I’ve ever watched.

Surprised nobody has mentioned Psych yet, definitely one of my go to comfort shows

[-] woodnote@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I can always watch an episode of Psych. Probably seen the whole thing 4 times, with various episodes seen much more than that. Like a warm hug.

[-] CeruleanRuin@lemmy.one 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

The Detectorists (available free on freevee) is my current go-to for when I need some chill positive vibes. Everything about it just feels like a warm hug.

For movies, you can't go wrong with a low-stakes slice-of-life comedy. Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret and You Hurt My Feelings are two recent ones which I loved.

[-] woodnote@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Oh, The Detectorists has such a special place in my heart. Really a one-of-a-kind show. The comedy is so good and you just love everyone (except Simon & Garfunkel of course). The pacing and the reverence for wild spaces and quiet is so meaningful. I think the casting was impeccable. Now I want to go watch it again!

[-] CeruleanRuin@lemmy.one 2 points 1 year ago

Even Simon & Garfunkel are recognizably just "the enemy" for comedic narrative purposes, and you can easily imagine them having their own show where Andy and Lance are the heels.

[-] yogsototh@programming.dev 1 points 1 year ago

The Office (both US and UK versions) will be very entertaining and feel positive

Little Miss Sunshine - Movie about loving yourself and people around you despite the sadness in life

[-] Posthumos1@lemmy.film 1 points 1 year ago

For me, Bob's Burgers. Every episode is good natured and no matter the challenge, they are family and they band together. I love the shoe for that.

Nathan for You

Pushing Daisies is a really wholesome show, funny and what I found to be an interesting plot too.

These are more "leave you feeling good" than "funny" but

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
Big Fish

Also Julia for a series. That show made me so happy when I watched it lol

And Rockos Modern Life is my all time favorite

Here's something nobody has seen, but is sweet despite the premise: Brigsby Bear https://letterboxd.com/film/brigsby-bear/

I think this fits, too: Moonrise Kingdom https://letterboxd.com/film/moonrise-kingdom/ If you have my sense of humor, you'll also find this one rather funny.

[-] Hank@kbin.social -1 points 1 year ago

Series:
It's always sunny in Philadelphia
Trailerpark boys
Arrested development
East bound and down

Anime:
Golden boy
Great teacher onizuka

Movies:
What we do in the shadows
Austin Powers trilogy
Superbad and other Seth Rogen movies of that era
Early Adam Sandler movies
Clerks and some other stuff from Kevin Smith
Who killed captain Alex is more of a non stop action packed movie but it's definitely hilarious
Kung pow

[-] Zorque@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

While IASiP and Arrested Development are definitely hilarious, I would hardly call them positive (for the most part). They create humor by satirizing very negative cliches and behaviors.

The way of the house husband (anime)

[-] Odlawzein1@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 1 year ago

If you don't mind some anime I suggest you to watch K-on.

[-] Walop@sopuli.xyz -1 points 1 year ago

K-dramas like What's wrong with secretary Kim, Hometown Cha-cha-cha and Romance is a Bonus Book. Start-Up and Search WWW are about people running businesses and are not so sappy, but nothing much tragic. It's OK not to be OK, SKY Castle, Move to Heaven and Extraordinary Attorney Woo have some dark stuff, but balance it with some really funny and heartfelt stuff and end up on a positive note.

[-] Walop@sopuli.xyz 0 points 1 year ago

Of you're any way in to esports, I really liked Falling Into Your Smile. While there is some light romance, the name gives a completely wrong impression and it's more about a woman joining and proving herself in an esports team.
