Thing with these Memes is that the watermark doesn't detract from the meme's joke and most memes are old video catpures and super pixelated anyways, so who cares?

I use an app with a similar name (MemeTastic, but it makes those image macros, though), but I don't need to pay anything AND there is no watermark on any meme!

You CAN have your cake and eat it too

link

Edit: spelling error or something of the sort

Fair enough, I mean who'd wanna use THESE templates?

!AntiqueMemesRoadshow@lemmy.world material right there

[-] tja@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 year ago

But that also does mean that (almost) nobody knows about MemeTastic but everyone knows mematic

[-] VikingHippie@lemmy.wtf 1 points 1 year ago

Which is great if you want hipster cred and irrelevant for the end user otherwise ๐Ÿ˜

[-] tja@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

No, it means that everyone who wants to create a meme image instantly thinks of and downloads mematic

[-] VikingHippie@lemmy.wtf 1 points 1 year ago

Nope. I've seen the mematic watermark literally thousands of times and made many memes. Never used mematic to do so, let alone downloaded their app.

Not everyone is as susceptible to advertising as you seem to think..

Just use Meme Generator on android. It has all the templates and no watermark.

[-] sounddrill@lemmy.antemeridiem.xyz 12 points 1 year ago

Use krita on desktop

It is open source by the good folks from KDE

[-] Vuraniute@thelemmy.club 7 points 1 year ago

Even better, use GIMP because Krita was intended to be a drawing software and GIMP was intended to be a photo editing software.

I tried gimp, didn't like it much

Felt right at home with krita

[-] solidsnake2085@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

My wife uses Krita on her drawing pad.

[-] oatscoop@midwest.social 11 points 1 year ago

Use MS paint like a civilized person.

[-] Samsy@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

It has some pro templates too, but guess what, just use a bigger one and crop it out after.

[-] reev@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 year ago

This shit post took way more effort than it should have.

But wow was it worth it.

Mobile: Meme Generator Pro

Windows: Paint 3D

Linux: Krita

[-] lud@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Why not Krita (or gimp or whatever) on Windows?

[-] c0mbatbag3l@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Paint 3D is really intuitive and has nice tools.

I don't really have the speed with Krita. Never used GIMP.

[-] Andrew15_5@mander.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

I approve Linux version

[-] profilelost@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 1 year ago

Putting watermarks on memes is a sin.

[-] Ubermeisters@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 year ago

get cropped, you fuck!

  • you
[-] FederalAlienSmuggler@feddit.de 3 points 1 year ago

Right click and save on the preview without the watermark

[-] VikingHippie@lemmy.wtf 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Android: power button and volume down button simultaneously

Windows: "Print Screen" button on your keyboard (sometimes shortened to Prt Scr, located at the top towards the right between "Insert" and "Pause/Break") and paste into MS Paint or whichever photo editing software you use

[-] Interesting_Test_814@jlai.lu 4 points 1 year ago

and OP

Actually OP's meme is literally about taking a screenshot... that's what the white bars are representing

[-] VikingHippie@lemmy.wtf 1 points 1 year ago

D'oh! I need more coffee and to edit my comment! Thanks for pointing that out! ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿ˜‚
