Here is an article from The New York Times about a Eurasian Eagle Owl that escaped a zoo and was living in Central Park. Lots of great photos!

There were a lot of great photos in that article! I normally don't like that format they used, but the pictures worked great as a backdrop for this story.

I've been very torn on the whole Flaco saga. It's very romantic that he's doing well, surviving in one of the biggest cities in the world in a place he shouldn't belong in, and living his best bird life.

At the same time, as mentioned in the article, cars, buildings, and poison are huge threats he would not have to deal with if he had been left with his caretakers, and his life would be at least double what it will be with him on his own.

I hope for the best for him, and it always makes me smile to see his name in the news. Godspeed, Flaco! ❤️ 🦉

Thank you for posting this! I saw this on my feed, but haven't gotten to read it yet.

I've been really grateful and proud for you guys this week. I've kinda felt Lemmy as a whole has been slipping on quantity and new people, but at least for this community, this is the most participation by multiple people in a week I've seen, and it's great to see more of you sharing things!

I try to always give you want you guys want, but with more of us doing it, it's going to give better variety and suit a wider audience better. If a group is going to succeed, it needs to stay fresh and provide something you can't get somewhere else.

Thank you all so much this week!

Making you guys happy and spreading awareness of the wonders of nature (and the volunteers doing all the great work!) is more rewarding than most real jobs I've had, so it's been my pleasure!
