I feel as though even though I've pushed very far into the net runner perk tree, my power SMG can still outpace my d5 sidewinder of the same class at any range. the targeting is mediocre at best, with like a 50% chance of the bullet actually hitting, where as the SMG has such a tight spread that its useful even at 20m ranges. I just feel like smart just sent great. what doyall think?

the legendary / iconic ones are pretty neat. There’s a great pistol you can swipe from the Arasaka estate if you sneak in there. With netrunning though they’re always kind of a backup for me. My last build was almost entirely dedicated to melting brains with contagion and system shutdown (or whatever it’s called). Stragglers got the bullets from around the corner.

idk never really liked the smart pistols, just SMG/AR. I prefer a silenced pistol if I wanna be sneaky, sniper to stay away, SMG once I fuck up and make some noise. did u have just the smart pistol or other smart weapons too?

pistol mostly, the gun you get from completing that 6th street mission where they’re all partying in the shadow of the dam is a great smart smg (i think) and is pretty great. but like i said, I was doing a melt-gonk-brains playthrough with guns as a backup.

yea no melting brains with quick hacks is so fun. especially shit like suicide. they melt their own brains lol

Hard pass for me. I want my weapons as basic as possible, point and shoot with reliable damage. I only briefly tried a couple and switched back after like 30 minutes.

But I also don't do most of the perks/abilities from the skill tree either. I don't want to have to think about headshotting 3 enemies in 4.5 seconds and then reloading and then meleeing someone to blow them up and cause radius damage that is multiplied by the number of enemies in a 35 meter radius... I see enemy, I shoot enemy, enemy die, I loot enemy, repeat.

Hear hear. Dumb weapons for dumb users, like myself. Never really got the gist of smart weapons, even if Skippy was fun for a bit.

[-] SaltySalamander@kbin.social 2 points 8 months ago

Skippy is probably the worst smart weapon.

[-] Malix@sopuli.xyz 2 points 8 months ago

Probably. But fun for a bit due to the novelty of it, and it's memorable, but def. wouldn't use for long either way.

[-] milkytoast@kbin.social 1 points 8 months ago

yea the skill tree can be a lot sometimes. I don't even remember what perks I have lol. all I know is I have a lot of net running stuff. very fun to be able to make an enemy simply kermit sewer slide lol

but yea, with guns, its nice to just shoot and that's it

Smart Weapons feel unreliable. Too many misses.

Breakthrough and Buzzsaw are my standard carry.

Warden with two mag extensions are fucking shimra. And of course Ashura reigns supreme, at least if the distance is not too great. As for the rest.... well.

There are a few iconic ones that are really good, like the choi(?) pistol and the smg you can find on the Arasaka compound when you sabotage the float. The former shoots explosive rounds that usually 1-2 shot normal enemies when aiming at the head, and the latter shoots incendiary at multiple targets, especially great with the contagion hack explosive effect against groups.

I recall they have worst stats usually, don't they? I tried once and it didn't seem very impressive but then I wasn't picking perks for them or anything. I'm curious how good they are, too.

[-] milkytoast@kbin.social 3 points 8 months ago

yea the stats are worse because u have the "benefit" of essentially auto aim, just that the aiming is kinda ass and I can hit heads better with my smg

[-] SaltySalamander@kbin.social 2 points 8 months ago

You really should give the Warden a shot. It's my go-to, because it will shitwreck anything in front of it.

[-] milkytoast@kbin.social 1 points 8 months ago

i think I picked up the crafting spec for it recently. Dogtown has so much cool shit

[-] SaltySalamander@kbin.social 2 points 8 months ago

Go to Dogtown and kill everything that moves until a 5++ Warden drops with a free mod slot, craft and slot a Hakatomy into it, which will automatically quickhack your targets with different quickhacks depending on where you shoot them. Headshots? Now they're blinded.

Interesting that so many people don't like them, I always felt that they were a little op, not that I let that stop me of course, especially for my weaker characters (which is most of them). I think maybe the not hitting enough part might be from the lower quality weapons, so maybe the better ones hit more? I'm not sure. Also there are perks now that help with that, under Intelligence. Other than that, I also like the tech weapons. Power weapons are the only ones I don't like; so boring. 😛

[-] milkytoast@kbin.social 1 points 8 months ago

see I like power weapons, they're just normal weapons

Do you ever use ricochet with power weapons?
