Looks like this ugly measure is gonna pass.

Its especially egregious because it mandates gential inspections to take part in kids sports. What the fuck Washington?

Couldn't be all roses across the country I guess. I look forward to the lawsuits this measure is going to generate.

At least the measure that would have forced schools to out LGBT+ students to their parents failed. Small comfort, I suppose.

Let the examination of children's genitals commence.

Since it applies only to girls and not to boys, doesn't that make it a very clear-cut Title 9 violation?

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yes, but title 9 enforcement is going to be part of the executive branch right now and that will not be happening lol

Can't you still file a state-level lawsuit for a sate-level institution violating federal law, though?

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Can the state supreme court still shut this down?

[–] empireOfLove2@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Oh yes. If a relevant suit is filed (which I am assuming will be), and it works it's way up I would fully expect an injunction halting implementation until the lawsuit can be concluded.

Awesome, let's cross our fingers🤞 (and if you're in WA, consider getting involved in civil sector orgs that are gonna fight this)
