Interested in the Yorkton one. That place is pretty deep blue. And the Liberals usually only get 5-6% there.

But with Carney suddenly shot up to 14% and some change.

See if that grows or shrinks. Poor NDP got clobbered.

Avi Lewis is choosing a weird path not running for public office.

If his focus is only to rebuild the party then he could've done it working with others without assuming the role of party leader.

He ran and lost twice in the past. He's not interested in being in the parliament but rebuild the party and prepare for the next general election.

Are they hoping Carney pisses everyone off to the point where the majority votes NDP next election?

If Carney pisses everyone off I don't trust them to not vote blue. It gives big Biden energy

Yea, that's what I fear.

Avi will be an easier target for maple-maga-slogan-boi if he's not in the parliament before the next general election.

They should find the safest seat and get him elected as soon as possible.

Is it a weird path? Jagmeet did the same and got NDP a strong position during Trudeau's minority government where they managed to pass legislation for dental coverage and increased CERB.

I think Avi's plan is to help Canadians by being the voice of reason that shifts the overton window regardless of majority or not.

Yea, but Jagmeet was in the parliament too. He wasn't just rebuilding and steering his party. I hope Avi doesn't wait long.

They won't be able to counter neoliberal and maple-MAGA bullshit from the sidelines.

Him being the leader gives him the authority to steer the party. He can't be rebuilding an NDP that's going say in neoliberal direction under another leader. There wouldn't be a point in doing that. For him. Or many of us who have contributed.

NDP should rebuild as party members and their elected leadership see fit. I'm not against that bit. I'm saying he shouldn't stay away from the parliament for long. His haters and NDP opponents will hold it against him come election time.
