that's a crazy 7. I might steal that font

F doesn't come after 5, must be a 7!

[–] BallShapedMan@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

6 comes after 5 and the 6th letter is F

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

FFF - the letter of the feast.

FFT the Fast Fourier Transform wait what where we talking about again

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Well, F is the sixth letter in the alphabet.

Alternatively, it could be fifteen, which is after five.

According to my eldest brother, that's the British way of writing it. I don't know if that's true, though.

[–] llamatron@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No. No it isn't.

Well, good to know. That was most likely my misunderstanding rather than his error. Thank you for the cultural clarification!

[–] BallShapedMan@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I thought it was an F instead of a 6? And the person's writing is great.

[–] sik0fewl@piefed.ca 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It’s definitely an “F”. That’s the inconsistency joke.

It could also be an unfinished swastika

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

What, you've got a giant trampoline?

I actually have a maze tattooed on my body (absolutely no swastika allusions) so that bit made me sad.

[–] blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Is that an F or a backwards 7

[–] ByteJunk@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Too inconsistent to say.

Guy must have been there a while...

[–] jaycifer@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I can’t tell anymore. I’ve always read it as a backwards 7 with the middle mark to differentiate it from a 1, but the comments on this post have me second guessing that now.

[–] blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago

Let's just say both

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This was funnier in the 80’s when it first started.

[–] jaycifer@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

A true antique then! Was there a particular place it started or did this joke just kind of circulate?

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 2 points 1 week ago

I think it just kinda spread.

In the early 2000s there was a dive bar in Boston and people started scribbling grout puns in the grout between all the subway tiles at the urinals. It was all so brilliant, drunk poets, but I hardly remember them at this point;

Oscar the grout

Who let the dogs grout?

Twist and grout

Grout minds think alike

Etc
