As an immigrant, I get irked by the term expat. It means the same situation but without the negative connotation.

That doesn't sound like a thing, or if it is, it doesn't sound like it would or should pay enough to live off of. I'm pretty clueless about what people do though.
It's a thing, sometimes you just need some minor help on your digital channels or you don't want to directly go to an agency/hire a FTE.
I don't know the COL in Portugal, but if it generally lower than the rest of Western Europe and she's receiving US rates from her work its definitely enough to live on.

É, a vida é muito boa para os colonos, como o era em África. Mas os nativos que têm de ter 2 trabalhos para poderem sobreviver no mercado imobiliário inflacionado por este neo-colonialismo...
Esses não deverão ter esse bom equilíbrio vida/trabalho, a trabalhar 80 horas por semana. Quem não quer tem de ir embora para deixar mais espaço para os novos "portugueses".
Temos muito para aprender com as nossas antigas colónias. Estamos a ser enrabados a sangue-frio e a perder o nosso próprio país e ainda agradecemos.
