Sir David Attenborough

Someone that is so fascinated and passionate about our planet and all creatures that live on it, I feel that would be a good representative.

It has to be him. I couldn't name a more universally beloved choice

Olivia Colman. Everything she's in is better for having her. She even made car insurance ads good back in the day as the lovely Bev. Loads of successes, but she still seems to have that air of fragility about her, that it could all come crashing down at any moment...

Mr Bean.

Not because he's funny (what happened to him after Black adder??) but because he's 100% British IMO.

I'd prefer Baldric.

Rik Mayall if he was still alive.

Rik Mayal as Lord Flash heart.

Richard Madeley.

Hear me out: his best years are behind him but he's desperately clinging to some sort of relevance in a world that barely even knows he exists any more.

Seems absolutely convinced of his own talent despite appearing to not actually have any.

Is abrasive and often winds people up the wrong way.

But he's also not afraid to make fun of himself and seems to not really take himself too seriously.

I don't like the guy, but I love your subtle destruction of him so you get my vote.

[–] Denjin@feddit.uk 4 points 3 days ago

More a subtle destruction of the UK but 🤷‍♀️

I feel Jeremy Clarkson is a fairly honest representation of the typical Briton.

David Attenborough if you want the best of Britain.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

I guess Clarkson would be better than Jimmy Saville.

Michael Palin.

The man's been everywhere and can still be incredibly intelligent & engaging while there's always a disarming aura - and if that don't work, his sense of humour will get you every time.

Stephen Fry!

Paul McCartney.

Alexi Sayle

Hannah Fry. Beautiful, intelligent, well spoken, thoroughly British, did i mention she's beautiful? She can speak to large crowds, is funny, commands respect, young enough to not be considered old and is also beautiful.

Joe lycett, legend.

[–] LifeCoffeeGaming@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

James Blunt. Combo of talent, humour and massive self depreciation, truly one of us.

Canadian here. I always think of Mr. Bean.

Hmm … how about the King of the United Kingdom?

[–] FrogCat@piefed.social 5 points 3 days ago

A man with an extraordinary amount of privilege, inherited by him simply by accident of birth, who is completely out of touch with the struggles of ordinary Brits?

Yeah it would be pretty fitting for him to represent Britain, given that people like him control modern Britain.
