In an un-fucking-believable move, the Americans stopped sharing intelligence and disabled Starlink’s military services, rendering Ukraine completely defenseless against Russian ballistic missiles just prior to a major attack.

This coming shortly after the US essentially negated its economic sanctions on Russian diesel and once again pressured Kyiv to unilaterally cease its attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, even as Russia ramps up their own attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

Trump is now publically aiding the Russians in their aggression against Ukraine and Europe

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 144 points 6 days ago (20 children)

No, that’s a totally believable move. The American government are terrotists that have the American people held hostage. They will now do whatever they want regardless- and oftentimes to spite what the American people want.

And no one is doing shit about it.

[–] brem@lemmy.world 49 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Thank you for not seeing an entire nation as the worst of their parts. I'm trapped in the basement, but I'm trying the best I can. Many people far better than I are doing the same.

If the flame of love & peace dies, all is lost.

[–] Pratai@piefed.ca 44 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (40 children)

Blaming all the people in a nation on the acts of a runaway government is ignorance on display. Just like how all of the Russian citizens don’t support Putin, just like all of Germany didn’t support hitler.

People nowadays seem to have very little time for nuanced thought, and it’s just easier to all-or-nothing a situation because thinking can be hard sometimes.

I’m with ya.

[–] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 14 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (3 children)

Bro, every time I try to mention nuance on the internet, I'm immediately the bad guy.

Like I'm autistic as fuck, so I can be pretty rigid in the way I think, so I get, like, why people can be that way.

But like on the internet its like half of everyone is just borderline personality about everything. Like it's fun to split people or some shit. Which hurts me to say, because BPD is... complex shit itself.

American conservatives hate Ukraine because their media has trained them to do so.

American conservatives have a greater affinity for Russian style domestic and foreign policy than they do with liberal democracy.

This is what American conservatives want. They want conservative chauvinism to bowl over the "leftist, globalist" world order with violence and abuse.

[–] EtruDUR@thelemmy.club 16 points 6 days ago

Most American Conservatives have no idea what Russian style policy is, or what life, even for “middle class” Russians is like.

They are passive, lazy and infantile people that just go along with whatever their peers and their media diet (Fox News, Talk Radio, Facebook, and now mass media) spoon feeds them.

The core of these people were always either racist or greedy or tolerant of racists for some other idiotic or bigoted reason.

This is what happens when you have a society of overly “soft” and spoiled people. People that have basically never experienced hardship for 2, 3 or 4 generations.

America happens to be the most powerful and most culturally dominant country right now, but this isn’t a special thing. It is human nature and America is just ahead of the curve.

produced by Musk’s SpaceX but managed by the US government, was no longer working at speeds greater than 100mph.

That effectively rendered most of the drones used by Ukraine to strike behind the frontlines inoperable

Such a specific way to sabotage Ukraine. They didn't shut down access, just made it so their weapons didn't work.

Even worse that they did it not just without warning, but without even a "hey we shut you off". Just, system switch cut off.

And as others have said, not even remotely surprising at this point.

[–] Darkmoon_AU@lemmy.zip 8 points 6 days ago

I've been dumbfounded at the US since the start of the year but I think this marks the moment where they are openly on Russia's side against the West. Dangerous times. I'm rather worried at where this is going.

Trump is a traitor. He should be treated as such.

I really hope the Ukrainians can continue winning the war without it.

I for one admire Zelensky for keeping it up until now. There are not many that could be in his position dealing with the Orange corrupted paedophile.

[–] adhdsergio@lemmy.world 26 points 6 days ago

It's because he puts the good of the country above his personal pride and feelings. He is being a true professional with the orange moron

[–] auzy1@lemmy.world 11 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Whilst it could be argued he's not fighting in the war, he's definitely put a massive target on his own head that is bigger than most soldiers, and keeps himself at risk.

You can hear the sound of Zalensky's massive balls clanging together from miles away.

And unlike Trump, you can tell he isn't worried about what people think of him. He doesn't try to pretend to be a "strong man"

Keep bombing the oil Zelenskyy it is time to go green

[–] thatOneGuy@aussie.zone 13 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (7 children)

Their ability to bomb* the oil depots is probably related to their starlink/starshield access. 🥺

Trump betrays everyone but himself. Only someone delusional would think otherwise.

betrayed? by Donald J Trump? YOU DON'T SAY?!

[–] emergencyfood@sh.itjust.works 17 points 5 days ago (3 children)

Volodymyr Zelensky should take a history book and read about how the US treats its allies once they are no longer useful.

Betrayed now? Not after they openly mocked you for not wearing a suit?

[–] clanker_victim_555@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

He ate shit and humiliated himself in front of the whole world on the off chance he could still get some benefit for Ukraine. This means he's given up on them.

[–] Taldan@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago (2 children)

People died because of this. Why would mocking his clothing even be a blip in comparison?

The Portuguese ex-president said it years ago: Trump is a Russian asset.

[–] NewSocialWhoDis@lemmy.zip 15 points 5 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (7 children)

Elon had already disabled Starlink access to them once, back at the start of the war when Biden was still president. I don't understand why Ukraine hasn't divested of SpaceX at this point. Hopefully they have diversified their sources of intel and comms, at least. Europe is starting to develop some nice alternatives like ICEYE, and have given multiple pledges? suggestions? to utilize it in support of Ukraine, I thought.

Edit: I guess Russia is considering stopping them too: https://www.axios.com/2026/10/17/russia-ukraine-satellite-space

All eyes and finger pointing should be aimed at that gutless orange mess in the White House!

[–] datendefekt@feddit.org 18 points 6 days ago (1 children)

If the American government reacts like this, then it sure shows how Ukraine is winning.

Which is why he can say it now instead of having to suck it up and smile for the cameras

[–] ExtremeUnicorn@feddit.org 22 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Maybe he feels betrayed because he was betrayed?

And he's still not wearing a damn suit.

[–] aksdb@lemmy.world 10 points 6 days ago

Did he say “thank you” for this beautiful betrayal?! /s

[–] TheObviousSolution@lemmy.ca 13 points 6 days ago (4 children)

I felt this was going to happen eventually, I just didn't know how soon. It also follows suit with Trump working to create a new world hegemony where he sees himself acquiring Canada and Greenland and letting everything else fall to Russia and China. The only way it can even begin to be real is with a world war where the US deliberately ghosts Europe and NATO, and it has already begun to do that.

Using the word "betrayed" implies he trusted him in the first place, which I strongly doubt.

[–] zalgotext@sh.itjust.works 17 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Zelensky knows how to play the game though

I think Zelensky has done a really good job overall in a really bad situation, but you don't have to read much news to know both Trump and Musk and terrible people and not to be trusted.

Be happy it lasted this long when dealing with these two billionaire psychopaths.

[–] CaptDust@sh.itjust.works 13 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Days after they warned of Russia's growing satellite capabilities. Donald Trump should be tried and hanged for this shit.
