After an all-too-long development phase, I'm opening the new year with a new version of Tempo. This new version brings with it Android Auto support, one of the most requested features of all time.

Other new features include support for Chinese and Korean languages, an update to the French localization, the implementation of landscape viewing of the media player and more.

You can find Tempo on Github ready for download: it’s free, it’s open source and it’s made by the community for the community.

If you appreciate the work put into Tempo, remember that you can star the project on Github or make a donation! It’s not much but it’s useful to help the project grow and give visibility to the app.

I was about to pay for simphonium app because was the best looking app for navidrome. But this one is even better and its FOSS . Thanks for this amazing app , it looks great , it is super fast and responsive. Really great work where I can donate to it?

Hi and thank you for your appreciation! There is a buymeacoffee page for donations. Thanks again for the support!

It's listed near the end of his comment...

Yes I got it thank you!

For the curious who want to see the app without downloading it, here are some screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/i3zsqlG

Appreciate this, thanks 🌻

Also a special thanks to Google which with its lack of guides for its libraries makes development a real thrill!

Tempo is gorgeous, it's up there with Auxio in terms of aesthetics. That said, I wish it had the feature set of Musicolet. I love being able to switch between queues and never having my randomised playlists reorder the songs because they drop out of memory.

Damn FOSS Android Auto development is starting the new year off strong! First grapheneOS successfully implementing it on a non-stock OS and now this too. Too bad I got rid of my vehicles last year and no longer have a use for it on my ebike.

[-] codeboy@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

I first read this as you used to use android auto on your ebike and got really confused

I am using it to access my navidrome server, works quite well. I also use subtracks, not decided yet which I prefer

[-] virtueisdead@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 6 months ago

I have yet to find something that tops Dsub despite how unfinished even Dsub is

[-] clmbmb@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 6 months ago

Symphonium tops all, but it's not even free.

[-] zaphod@lemmy.ca 7 points 6 months ago

Frankly, I'd rather pay a motivated and focused developer if the product is good. And Symfonium is fantastic.

[-] clmbmb@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 months ago

Agree. That's why I paid for it.

Same for me. I only really use dsub/gonic to cache a random selection of my collection, by letting a shuffled playlist play until the cache is full.

So far none of the other apps appear to have this simple function.

Hello and thank you all for your appreciation! For anyone who asks, there is a buymeacoffee page for donations. It's really a pleasure to see my work recognized, especially when I've been practically stuck on Android Auto support for months... For the future, the plans are to fix some bugs already reported to me, add support for the OpenSubsonic API, and clean up the interface (giving the user the ability to show or hide elements as they wish). Fewer server calls should lighten up and speed up the app.

[-] bonnetbee@lemmy.world 4 points 6 months ago

Looks great! Will it find it's way into the F-Droid repos?

[-] sundaylab@lemmy.ml 3 points 6 months ago

Nice one. Downloaded and will try it soon. Using Ultrasonic at the moment so eager to see differences between the apps. Happy new year by the way. ;)

This is absolutely awesome, I love it already. Substreamer had some real annoying quirks but it was the least worst option I found so far, this is better in almost every way for my use case

[-] Osiris@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Really love tempo. I think my only request would be an option for list views instead of a grid

[-] azron@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 months ago

Awesome I've been looking for a newer subsonic client for Ampache. Thank you for your work!

[-] Oha@lemmy.ohaa.xyz 1 points 6 months ago

Best Navidrome app ive used so far, thank you!

[-] silentknyght@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

... I'm shocked. I thought all development on subsonic had dried up. I used it and dsub for literal years, but switched to Plex after it seemed I was paying for nothing. :(

[-] roofuskit@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

I had almost given up hope that someone would make a Subsonic compatible app that doesn't suck. Dsub was the only really functional one and it's quite dated.

[-] elfio@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 months ago

I saw you did some steps in order to bring this to f-droid. Is it still on your roadmapm?

[-] antoniocappiello@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Yes, it's been on my roadmap for a while. I also created a pull request several months ago to enter the repo but it was never accepted (it's also my fault because I didn't follow the verification process properly).

[-] elfio@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 months ago

Thanks for the info!

[-] ryan_harg@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 6 months ago

Amazing, thanks for your work!

[-] ghose@foros.fediverso.gal 1 points 4 months ago

Hi! I've found you! 😄

I've found found Tempo in weblate but it seems Tempo's translation is not active.

Maybe that repo in weblate is not ready yet but I will try to contribute translating it to my language.

Thank you!
