Overview:

Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

Dominating the forward cockpit is the OpenR Panorama screen that is 44.5 inches wide, 4.33 inches tall

The system integrates Google's Gemini artificial intelligence to manage everything

Literally why? I was just getting interested too 🀒

Car companies can't do software and have given up.

Am I the only one that would rather have just a dumb head unit that’s connects to either CarPlay or Android auto? Car software has always sucked, and if the car is just a dumb display, they can’t collect any info.

if the car is just a dumb display, they can’t collect any info.

on the flip side I don't use Android Auto because, well, I know who that's going to and who is listening. I have a BYD and use the in car display precisely because it's going to China who don't want to do me harm, it's my government that wants to do me harm if I attend a climate protest or despair at the situation in Palestine and articulate that, my government in those cases is looking to arrest me.

Id never buy a connected Euro or US car. Here in Australia there are quite a fee non connected Euro cars (BW and Cupra) as well as Toyota and Subaru and the biggest gripe from their customers is their lack of connected-ness.

Same, I was fully onboard till I read that.

Looks great. Let's hope it's not a million dollars like the ID.Buzz.

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 17 points 2 days ago (2 children)

The number of people who feel that $60,000 is an appropriate amount for a soccer parent car is too fucking high.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

it makes no sense. Young families don't have $60,000 to throw around, so it's either a van or junior's college fund.

But, the idea that you need a massive van after having an 8lb baby is pretty stupid.

They have the money if they take out massive PCP loans that leave them with fuck all.

I know people, mostly in their 20s, with larger PCP loan payments than my mortgage.

In a few years they get a new car and the loan probably gets a bit bigger because the salesman talks them into being able to afford another Β£100/month by now.

I'm pretty sure they're the opposite of stoned, and even more confident that correcting that would do them a world of good. For one, they'd make better choices in vehicles than this bullshit.

Oh. You meant that as an example of working class life. Sorry, I'm happily baked. πŸ˜„

I’m not sure you read my comment completely correctly, but I still like the cut of your jib.

I saw the original and thought it was a throwback dsign but the new one is ok. The dash is awful shit. Fuck AI implementation.

Your last sentence deserves to be first.

[–] nimisnimi@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

..to be the only sentence.

Well, I'm not usually one to tell another to stop talking after they've made their point, so πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

Renault is basically going through every hit model they ever had and electrifying it. And it's working.

[–] mystik@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Any shots of the interior? If it's meant to be a family car, I'd love to see the details that make it easier to clean up after small children. A flat floor (mentioned in article) is a nice start.

[–] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 2 points 18 hours ago

A flat floor (mentioned in article) is a nice start

that's nearly ubiquitous in ecars though. No tunnel fir a drive shaft needed.

The less SUVs, the better.

[–] Yenaplus@europe.pub 1 points 22 hours ago

This is bigger than most SUV's in Europe. 4.7m long and 1.9m high...

Not like this. Not like this.

[–] eutampieri@feddit.it 4 points 2 days ago

Yay, an MPV

[–] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Wait. Am I wrong in my impression that's what the brand is known for? Sheisty, obstinate, unreliable small cars? If not, this is an astroturfing puff piece.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The worst brand in TUV , by far, is Tesla.

You're not wrong, but let's steer clear of logical fallacies.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well they mostly have crossovers these days, like everyone else. No big SUVs, but then that could be said of most European marques other than the Germans, Volvo and Land Rover. Even the current Espace is a crossover rather than an MPV like the first 5 generations

So, they're still sheisty, obstinate, and unreliable, then. Good to know.
