Pretty sure they are, and he's playing into it because of his extreme narcissism.
When he inevitably dies, they're going to try and pin everything on him and pivot to manipulating things further down the fascism rabbit hold from outside direct public scrutiny like they have been for 60+ years.
The only reason they're being so brazzen now is that Trump is a fucking idiot and is incapable of doing anything without as much public attention for his ego as possible.

You can renew it early. The passport doesn't need to be expired in order to renew it.
You might as well get a passport card too while you're at it when you renew. It's $30 more and it's useful if you lose your passport book, and you can carry it in your wallet as a form of ID that doesn't have your address on it.

Just a side note - I am so very fucking tired of donnie always picking out these pictures where he thinks he looks "hard" or whatever. I'm not sure if it really took off once he was able to orchestrate his own mugshot voguing (they should have took a much more candid one, IMHO. Him looking all grrrr toughguy was such bullshit).

Edit: that was the LE Patriot Passport, and it was for people ordering them in person and specifically choosing them.
