Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.

As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades: Graph of temperature as observed with significant warming, and simulated without added greenhouse gases and other anthropogentic changes, which shows no significant warming

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world: IPCC AR6 Figure 2 - Thee bar charts: first chart: how much each gas has warmed the world. About 1C of total warming. Second chart: about 1.5C of total warming from well-mixed greenhouse gases, offset by 0.4C of cooling from aerosols and negligible influence from changes to solar output, volcanoes, and internal variability. Third chart: about 1.25C of warming from CO2, 0.5C from methane, and a bunch more in small quantities from other gases. About 0.5C of cooling with large error bars from SO2.

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:

The justices are about to hear a lawsuit that could determine whether the oil industry faces billions of dollars in liability for damages caused by global warming.

Should be trillions given the global impact. Use the funds for renewable and carbon capture projects and other sustainability efforts.

The justices are about to hear a lawsuit that could determine whether the oil industry faces billions of dollars in liability ...

Not gonna happen

For real. Billions in fines is a hell of a lot more than Thomas costs, and I'm sure the others are pretty cheap dates, too.

Fucking disgusting whores in robes. Thomas is gonna get some RV diesel money for sending us all to hell

They knew and willingly tried to hide it until it was too much of a problem.

SCOTUS exists now as nothing more than the buffer that protects oligarchs from the blowback of climate change..

Climate change is going to lose.

Climate Change doesn't care a single pip about what the judges might say... Now, if I lived in Florida, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas and such, I would take a look at the Hawaiian experience this year. That quiet ocean with no hurricanes during hurricane season is not happy quiet. That's the quiet before the gargantuan gigs hurricane razes half the state of Florida drags it over Louisiana and freezes it into Texas... A bigass shark infested Popsicle full of everyone's houses, cars, boats and bloated people. That's why it's quiet. It's the big one, and it's coming soon.
