sideloading is not a thing. it is Just a word to make you feel guilty about installing software from other sources than the proprietary store. I wish journalists wouldn't use this term anymore

Correct, it’s just another install. On the hardware that YOU bought that the GoogleNazis now say you don’t actually own

No, it's not "just another install"

It specifically means installing software from a safe source, like fdroid.

Otherwise, you'd be getting it from some unsafe place like Google Play Store, which is loaded with spyware (which isn't allowed when you install from safer sources like fdroid)

Installing software is the same as side loading. That's literally what it means

It means "installing safe software"

You have to do it on the side to avoid the fascists that want to ensure the software included spyware

That's no guardrails but jail bars.

At least guardrails let you jump over

What is this a joke my family has been scammed on play store infinitely more times than on F-Droid or by my own personal apps

You now it never was about "safety" OK? It is always about control. And money.

Cool. Time for mass degoogling so people can actually install safe software

Smells very authoritarian

And I am that much closer to moving to a phone running Nura

I have already been looking up what apps I can replace things with and teaching myself to use command line Monero wallets so that I can continue using Monero even with no graphical wallet available yet.

If I get a new device in 2027 or 2028, then I will have abandoned Android after running it for something like 14 or 15 years.

I have not seen it yet but maybe samsung has to enable it? I want a different phone yesterday 😩

Owh no it's happening already. We are too late folks.

Nope. Now is the time to explain how to reinstall Android without Google.

Degoogling is now the only way to install safe apps
