Jack needs to share evidence with state AG offices immediately.

Let them find whatever violations of state laws they can.

Regardless of federal level shenanigans, Trump cant be federally pardoned for state charges. Takes the state govenors to do that.

[–] buzz86us@lemmy.world 6 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Trump is going to be in NY.. WE should have bounty hunters putting him in prison

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Prison? Such a small solution.

[–] nickiwest@lemmy.world 6 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

If he's assassinated, they'll try to canonize him like they did with Charlie Kirk.

Rotting in prison is the greater humiliation for a narcissist.

[–] uberdroog@lemmy.world 3 points 8 hours ago

I said this to my wife. I want him to stroke out coming down air force one steps on camera. I wanna see his kept wife crack a smile. I wanna see the guards struggle to move his flabby body. This needs to be his legacy.

[–] W3dd1e@lemmy.zip 4 points 15 hours ago

I have barely heard or seen anything Smith said in regard to Trumps crimes. Eric Schmidt making a fool of himself then telling everyone what a great job he did overshadowed it.

Typing that out made me think it was intentional.

I still have to laugh that they really thought they "got him", then:

Even the implied accusation is pretty weak.

So he went to a game in the same city where a person you could have plausibly conspired with lives? Like a major sporting event which it is common to travel for?

If he is banned from traveling to any city where a potential conspirator exists then that rules out basically every city in the US, certainly DC is included in that list.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Also I'm not sure if Church Lady there was going to get teed up for piling on with their bullshit conspiracy theory/"gotcha" moment on Jack Smith, but if she was, she sure has a sad now. They really wanted to get him for the "crime" of investigating donnie's crimes.

She got a front row seat to watch one of donnie's accomplices punch himself right in the nuts. 🙃

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

for the "crime" of investigating donnie's crimes.

It is illegal for them, no doubt

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I hope we can use this gif a lot for memes after a blue wave this fall, but we shall see.

I hope all of the GOP get to look like this in a few weeks. 🤣

[–] NotAnOtter@lemmus.org 10 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I know all the polling indicates a blue wave but I'm worried people are getting over confident about it :/. I'm hoping it's as intense as people are assuming but I'm expecting for them to barley take the majority and still need to bargain on every issue,

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Polling hasn't been accurate for years, I think blue will take it, but it will be close. No wave.

I will be happy if I'm wrong.

[–] A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Polling hasn’t been accurate for years

gee i wonder why.

sure it has nothing to do with republicans admitted fraud

Yeah, no time for complacency and thinking everyone else has this. People need to turn out in droves.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 1 points 20 hours ago

I always vote, and I encourage you to vote, too.

Because it's funny. The more people that vote, the funnier it gets.

Seriously, I vote. But I don't think voting has any chance of reversing our downward decline in USA.

[–] KeithD@lemmy.nz 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Only going to be a blue wave if people actually vote.

[–] chewypoops@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

Ironically, this year it could actually be the opposite. Democrats have okay momentum right now (the very best they can to tbh), but Republicans have pretty much no momentum. Conservative voters are likely going to hit the ballot box in record low numbers this November. That's why a blue wave is expected.

But nobody on the left should relax about it. Campaign as if Trump's approval rating was at 100%. Don't underestimate how stupid and/or malicious conservative voters will be.

[–] bunnybunny@lemmy.zip 150 points 2 days ago (28 children)

Jack Smith is one of the few who actually cares about America instead of their own wallet or power. This guy is an actual hero but instead he is painted like he is some criminal and liar by the GOP. Americans should take before they vote what is happening here. They’re trying hard to cover shit up and silence this man or anyone else that want to blow the whistle on them. If you Americans are still too fucking blind to see that and STILL vote for Trump these midterms you guys are fucking lost forever. I have said Fuck America almost everyday since Trump became president. This November is you last fucking shot to put things right.

[–] atomicorange@lemmy.world 31 points 2 days ago

I’m sure you know this, but just for clarification’s sake: Trump is not on the ballot, he’ll still be president after November. What IS on the ballot is his party’s stranglehold on congress and the senate, and his ability to act with complete impunity.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 11 points 1 day ago (7 children)

You had my upvote until the second half when you veered into an unhinged rant as if the vast majority of americans here on the fediverse haven't already been against this administration all along.

[–] CorrectAlias@piefed.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, they frequently comment things like this, it's kind of their thing. They also say no one in America is doing anything, completely ignoring what the (bought and paid for) media here avoids reporting on.

I wonder if the global rise of fascism is affecting their country, and if they're doing anything about it. I'm sure they hold themselves to the same standards, right?

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 day ago

Oh, I'm sure they're a very proactive member of their community... 🙄 /s

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Thank you, exactly. Yelling at Lemmy libs who are altogether more likely to vote against the current administration than any other group I can personally name is a complete own goal, unless they're actively trying to get genuinely horrified Americans to get discouraged and not vote at all, which is another tactic I've seen here and personally called out I can't even count how many times.

Doesn't matter. I'm voting anyway, and spending less time where I can see that shit to begin with.

And for anyone who can look at their own country and see a diverse set of individuals, but has no problem with looking at another country and seeing only one great homogeneous caricature -- that they then screech at personally because yeah, that's gonna help so much -- I got a bag of dicks they can eat.

. . . while I go vote anything but R, and bring my neighbors too, lol.

[–] korazail@eviltoast.org 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Thank you. I feel so discouraged when I see people who should be our supporters, who spout things like 'fix your country', pick at an individual who is trying to make things better because they aren't working on their specific thing.

I just can't see any flavor of 'both sides' as anything but support for the oligarchs. The more people engaged, the more collective power we have and the less a few billionaires can control us. By engagement, I mean more than just voting: Join your local precinct and be or support the delegates that work their way up to the national conventions. This applies to democratic and republican alike.

Anything telling people their votes don't matter or won't change things only concentrates power in the people who already have it.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

Well said. I could not agree more. And very few of these random "purity tests" -- where the liberal candidate is horrible, evil, gonna burn down the world because they do not have the right stance on [pick an issue] -- in online conversation ever come across as authentic or genuine to me; rather, they seem to all be using the same playbook and advancing the same talking points, same as it ever was.

For example, I have NEVER, not once, met a fellow American in real life who did not know exactly where they already stood on Trump or Biden by the time the 2024 elections rolled around. Maybe that's because I'm old, but we've all been firehosed with propaganda day in and day out since 2015, and any middle ground had already long disappeared. Maybe such individuals exist, but for me it would be a wild unicorn sighting.

Yet I'm also supposed to believe that people already opposed to Trump would turn on a dime, hold their noses, and vote for him because Kamala = genocide? Hardly. If you genuinely care about genocide you care about people, and in a country where entitled righties were screaming FUCK YOUR FEELINGS at me that was the magical enticement for me or someone like me to stop caring about real people and vote for the one man who very clearly cares about no one but himself at all? Lol, no. I never believed that and I do not now, and anyone who lives here knows why just from their own lived experience.

These new purity tests are just more of the same, and as we get closer to the midterms I am spending less and less time online overall: if we don't see it, it's useless to them, oligarch cash wasted, and that just makes my heart glad.

If votes didn't matter, the oligarchs would not be spending hundreds of millions of dollars to try to change and/or eliminate them.

It's so wild that Jack Smith is just doing his job the way it's supposed to be done, and he now seems like the outlier in the public sphere.

Especially when you contrast him with the entire array of conservatives and Republicans and how they are just trying to self-deal and punch down and destroy this country.

[–] Avicenna@programming.dev 32 points 1 day ago (12 children)

I mean at this point it is like he is the leader of a gang committing international and national humanitarian crimes on live TV and no one is doing shit. So yeah one more person saying this doesn't add much.

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

and no one is doing shit.

As infuriating as Trump is, the fact that he is being allowed to keep fucking around completely unrestrained is the more frustrating thing to those of us watching in horror from outside the USA's borders.

Fix your damn country before it kills us all, dammit.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago

There is no fixing the most destructive country in history. The merciful thing would be to to put it out of its misery. Of course that would require rounding up all the wealthy people of the world first and frankly no one has the guts to do that.

[–] cmbabul@slrpnk.net 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

It’s like that because that’s exactly what’s happening, an organized crime syndicate, and not even one with any cool aura at all, is in control of the United States.

Say what you will about the tenets of Cosa Nostra dude, at least they don’t look like bumbling idiots when committing crimes

[–] BigPotato@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

You want 234 crimes against humanity? I can get you 234 crimes against humanity, Dude. There are ways. You don’t want to know about it, believe me.
