"Fox trotting" during a fight is a non-violent ritual where two foxes stand on their hind legs, place their paws on each other's shoulders, and push back and forth with wide-open mouths to settle dominance or territorial disputes without getting hurt.

"Not at all good sir, you're cutest-er and your smile is contagious."
"You take this territory or I'll smile you to death!"
"Try your hardest, you adorable puffball!"
And this is where the Fox Trot dance comes from. Go figure.
Is it also from where the term frotting comes from, by chance?
Not that comes from frottage. The act of rubbing genitals against another person like they used to do in colonial America.
...I would guess not.
