It could mean the end of empty bottles everywhere (that's what happened where I live)

If a huge business conglomerate opposes it, that means it's probably good for the community.

Michigan has been doing this for years. As far as average people go, some love it, some hate it, most just recognize it as a fact of life.

I love it.

Recently there have been big pushes to remove it. I worry they'll succeed.

are the stores that sell the beverages at least required to accept the bottles?

In my state they are, the larger ones anyway.
