We are post scarcity. From a technology viewpoint, it would be trivially easy to produce enough to give everybody a good standard of life. The only obstacles are political.
Risa: Your Home Away from Spacedock
Welcome to Risa
All the pleasure of shore leave, none of the holodeck glitches.
Rule 1 — Be Civil, Not Klingon
This is a vacation planet, not the neutral zone.
- No harassment, brigading, or trolling
- No bigotry
- Keep the banter playful, not hostile
Rule 2 — No Prohibited Cargo
Some things aren’t welcome aboard.
- No spam or scams
- No porn or sexually explicit content
- No illegal content
- NSFW memes must be properly tagged
Rule 3 — Keep It Trek
Posts should be Star Trek memes or Trek-adjacent humor.
- Crossovers are fine
- Low-effort “unrelated” memes may be spaced out the nearest airlock
Rule 4 — Gatekeeping Belongs in a Black Hole
You’re welcome to have your own opinions on what counts as “real” Star Trek but forcing your view on others or pretending it’s the only valid one? That’s not the Starfleet way.
Everyone’s Trek is valid, from TOS purists to Lower Decks shitposters, and you don't get to dictate what is real or not for everyone.
If you see a post that violates the rules, or that doesn't inspire Jamaharon, report it so the mods can handle it.
Otherwise grab a horga’hn, order a Risan Mai Tai, and enjoy your shore leave.
"It's not enough to succeed, others must fail"
A true victory is to make your enemy see they were wrong to oppose you in the first place. To force them to acknowledge your greatness.
And hear the lamentations of their women...
The Federation manages everything it does without being a post-scarcity economy too. Dilithium is a scarce resource and they need it to power their replicators.
I’ve never really thought of it like that before. Thanks for changing my perspective on the fed.
Afaik from st 4 on they were able to recrystalize the dilithium
We're just waiting for replicators.
Replicators we want:

Replicators we are on track to get:

I just pretend Janeway uses not a replicator but a mini transporter and everytime the black coffee appears, Neelix in his quarters screams: Not again, captain!
We don’t need them to start making a better world. The federation didn’t have them in the beginning either.
If we're going to follow the same path, they did in fact have a massive global war that wiped a good chunk of the world population.
I'd say we're on track! 😀
We didn't build a ghetto in downtown San Francisco, but we did build concentration camps, so we should be seeing some version of the Bell Riots any day now 🤞
Be the change you want to see in the world, and get a 3D printer.
I’d settle for holosluts.
... Barclay?
Tell that to the Ferengi...
No ism works. That's why everyone isn't using one system.
Okay, start the downvotes.
Sounds like you favor pluralism.
You're wrong, my ism works, and I will threaten and insult you until you admit it!
We do need to change to be post-scarcity, though.
says the future where colonist land is given away to appease monsters.
