A lot of holidays are associated with religion and colonialism, but I think it would be a lot better if we had holidays that were universally recognised regardless of your beliefs.

Take my home country of Australia. You of course have the Christian originated holidays of Easter and Christmas, and Australia Day is awful (it's pretty much celebrating the colonialism and slaughter of the indigenous peoples of Australia).

New Years should stay, it's universally recognised for everybody using the Gregorian calendar, and memorial days for those who have died in war is also important to keep (like ANZAC day!), as well as the various independence days

Personally, I would propose the revival of the summer and winter solstices (the longest and shortest days of the year, reversed for the southern hemisphere), and May 8th as the new Australia Day (mate!)

What holidays do you think should be universally celebrated?

I had this think where I would like to see a 5 week of 6 days for all the months and then have 5 holidays that are outside of it and 4 of those would be the solstices and equinox and then the fifth would be the day after the winter solstice and be called new years.

We celebrate International Talk like a Pirate day.

Its also my wife's Birthday, so that helps.

Kirkiversary is cool because one half of people can calibrate it as "Muh boy! Remember how they killed much boy! We're under attack! Mark this day as the day of horror"

And the other half can celebrate it as "Ayyyyyy lmao"

I don't think we need to dedicate a holiday to some racist guy. Strokes the ego of the racists too much in my opinion.

We should also abolish the birthdays of monarchs as holidays for similar reasons.

Some of the geek holidays. Like: Pi Day, Towel Day, Talk like a Pirate Day...

Also, bring your kids (of any gender) to work day... Though you'd obviously need to come in to work for that one. But there will be a tour and cookies!

Solstices and equinoxs. Maybe a harvest day for seasonal crops. Which food item is harvested will vary based on the region and the dates won't be the same but the concept of a harvest holiday could be a universal celebration day
