getting the wings right only took me two attempts per side, compared to over 10 in total the last time i tried eyeliner. i call that progress!
my uni's queer student association hosted a dinner event today! this was the first one since the start of the semester, so i got to meet the new wave of baby transes (and other assorted queers) :3
kinda crazy to think i was in their place only a year ago!

basically, there's a queer association for all the students at the various universities/colleges in town, and every week or two during the semester they organize these dinner events where they basically rent out a nearby building (i think in english you'd call it a community center?) with a kitchen and make dinner for everyone, and afterwards most attendees end up hanging around for a few hours just to hang out and chat. it's free for members, and the membership fees are so low that it pays for itself even if you only show up like twice during the semester, so there's always pretty high turnout (even if for no other reason than to save money! most of us are the archetypal "broke college students", after all). most of them are restricted to smaller groups to make the cooking more manageable ("Dinner for Trans People and Enbies", "Dinner for Women*", etc.), but at the beginning and end of every semester they have a big "Dinner for Everyone". i'd been told that the one at the start of the winter semester is particularly fun because there's always a wave of new (and often rather nervous) faces from all the first-semester uni students (i think y'all would call them "freshmen"?), and i can now confirm that was indeed the case! i met a whole bunch of new people (and reunited with some other friends who i hadn't seen since the last semester ended), and even ended up kinda adopting a pair of freshly cracked trans girlies who i'm now going to be dragging along with me to all the other transfem events in town!
these dinners have a special place in my heart since they were the first queer-focused events i ever went to. my own egg phase ended last october when i showed up to one of the trans dinners (very nervously), having never really interacted with any openly queer people before (i already knew a few trans people online but none of them had ever made more than a passing reference to their transness so i'd never really given it any thought whatsoever), and immediately realized that i'd found my people, and also i started estrogen 6 days later :)
thanks to meeting people at those dinners i've now made more friends than i've probably made in my entire life up to this point, and have been introduced to a whole bunch of other local queer- and trans community events. it may sound corny considering it hasn't even been a year since i showed up, but getting to spread that joy on to the next "generation" of baby transes makes me really happy :3
