The frustrating thing about this is what this will/has cost the council considering the financial position they are in.
It also miffs me that it was only one person who has complained!

It’s such a victimless fucking crime.
That will be one part, the other will be that some people in the area want the place to loom a certain way. I know of someone who owned a block that had a shipping container at the back of the block have council tell them that they need to move it. Their response was that they had a permit in to build on said block that had been sitting with council for at least 6 months. It got approved within a week.
Fuck this. This exact thing happened to me. I live in the PNW, Washington State, USA, to be exact. I spent a year or more building my place to spec. Lived in it from 2020 to 2023, when I was informed that I was in violation of local laws.
When asked how I was discovered, they said a neighbor reported me.
Fuck this idiotic world. I was living a good life. I've been in the middle of the city since and can't say I'm better for it.
Damn, what were the laws? Been wanting to do the tiny house / nice land thing in the PNW for ages...
Housing is so hard to come by and we restrict people from wanting to live a small foot print life. We desperately need nationwide ruling for tiny homes.

Unpermitted housing has issues because it can break or overwhelm some things if you have a bunch of people on a rural line or connection. But the biggest issue is trash which is less likely to happen if tiny home can be legally registered and get garbage service, homeless camps making mounds of trash is the biggest fire risk there is.
