I've noticed it's on sale and was curious about it since I really like some of the Monster Hunter games. I enjoyed Worldborne and 4U, I'm mixed on GU and did not like Rise and Wilds at all.

Would you recommend it?

My main worry is that the karakuri may be too gimmicky and distract from the actual combat.

I haven't played it, but in general some of the reviews that I have seen, if you like these games, you should enjoy Wild Hearts S, but since you didn't like Rise and Wilds, so can't say.

Try checking out a Let's Play and watch couple of monster fights and see how it feels to you.

There's a demo worth trying! It feels pretty gimmicky, but I think in a good way. It's another dimnsion to think about you usually don't get in these games.

But I've also just tried the demo. It's on my list once I get a S2 of my own in the near future.

Mhh... I downloaded it and tried it for a bit and the combat seems fun, however the performance in handheld is pretty bad. I'll try it again docked, but that's making me reconsider getting it.
