I need a poorly drawn dump truck full of "fell for it again awards"

[–] Yerbouti@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 44 minutes ago)

He won't make the checks and then he will say he just saved a trillion dollar that can now be use for taxe cuts for the rich. Art of the dealing with a population of undereducated, my friends.

[–] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 8 points 5 hours ago

No one is talking about the math. 5k per tax payer, approx 200M tax payers, is 1 trillion more debt

[–] Flower@sh.itjust.works 7 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Trump wants to start with UBI! /s

Universal Basic Bribe

[–] FluorideMind@lemmy.world 34 points 12 hours ago (3 children)

Literally bribing the poor and stupid for votes. Can we get rid of this clown already?

[–] Ricaz@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 hours ago

Even in Denmark, the least corrupt country in the world, the government did something similar for votes.

It was a much lower amount and masked as a supplement for increasing food prices, but still principally the same.

[–] 0x0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Is it a bribe if he never pays out? 🤔

[–] Furbag@pawb.social 6 points 3 hours ago

He has concepts of a bribe.

[–] Fawkes@lemmy.zip 6 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Honestly? No, probably not without...

They're already planning to rig every election, so even if they lose it's unlikely they'll leave. And even if some one did the deed Vance isn't any better, and the entire admin is stocked with lunatics.

You guys are kinda fucked tbh.

[–] Wildmimic@anarchist.nexus 3 points 10 hours ago

Yeah, even if they ever had a normal executive branch again (which i doubt - the US is currently speedrunning the process Russia went through after the USSR collapsed. On paper, Russia is a country with democratic institutions and free votes too), the supreme court is still stacked with bribeable republican stooges with questionable morals.

[–] leaky_shower_thought@feddit.nl 1 points 5 hours ago

easy. there's no executive order~ he can't do it~

[–] HarneyToker@lemmy.world 94 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

His response is a fucking sentence fragment with no meaning without a bending of English syntax and heavy context.

[–] Nobody@anarchist.nexus 39 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

That’s “The Weave.” It’s what the PR people came up with for word salad from an addled mind.

They concoct some idiotic explanation for why Trump acts the way he acts, and it goes straight into the zeitgeist as true through the unquestioning corporate media.

[–] frunch@lemmy.world 10 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Christ, and i thought they were talking about his hair 😅

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

A weave is attached to remnants of real hair. There's no fucking way there's any real hair coming out of that head unless it's his eyebrows, ears or nose.

Why start grammar checking him now? He's never been able to speak. That was his last three brain cells firing wildly into a sea of soup.

Kinda wish this was back when medical reasearchers robbed graves for cadavars cause I doubt his brain will be volentarily donated to science.

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 66 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

Still waiting in that DOGE check. Wasn't that supposed be a few thousand as well?

[–] nocturne@slrpnk.net 47 points 16 hours ago (2 children)
[–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 24 points 14 hours ago

They did send out tariff checks, to massive corporations who made record profits

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 6 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

And the 2nd covid check.

Well, not me personally, I live in a somewhat more functioning country.

[–] Papazoo@piefed.ca 1 points 5 hours ago

So do I, but they asked for my covid cheque back. Seems I went back to work too quickly. All the while I thought I was applying for employment insurance.

[–] RidderSport@feddit.org 0 points 11 hours ago

Not versed in US law, so this is mostly rambling. Couldn't ypu intepret the promise of DOGE checks to be a promise of a gift meaning a legally binding transfer of ownership? If so, how about you sue POTUS for the Doge checks? And while you are at it how about you make it a class action?

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 12 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

He's leaning into a winning strategy for himself: lie about something that obviously you aren't going to do, and then lie some about something else you'll definitely do 😉 to distract from the fact that you didn't deliver on the last thing (or really anything).

It's a sign of very stupid times that Elon Musk basically runs the exact same conman mechanism and has used it to great business success, while Trump was a loser in business that didn't really make serious money until he started presidenting.

People just don't keep track of all of the broken promises...and I can't blame all of them, some of us have jobs.

This guy has "promised" about doing hundreds or thousands of things for "America" and delivered on single digits of those "promises".

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 7 points 11 hours ago

faux news losing to outlets like newsmax, and oan, so they have to seem like they are both sides.

[–] h_ramus@piefed.social 17 points 14 hours ago

But those are gubberment handouts, THAT'S SOCIALISM!! [unintelligible screeching of maga brains]

[–] blarth@thelemmy.club 19 points 15 hours ago

I’m afraid so many people are going to buy into this bullshit.

[–] Z745812939054@lemmy.zip 30 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

of course it's a problem that he's lying, but the infinitely bigger problem is that millions of people will 100% believe it and bank their entire family's (not to mention everyone else's family's) future on it

[–] openchan@piefed.social 8 points 14 hours ago

I hope that stupid nazi bitch is smart enough to realize she fucked up right then and there

(but she won't because that requires introspection and shame)

[–] Lodespawn@aussie.zone 10 points 15 hours ago

Definitely not a bribe ..

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 10 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

$2,500 now, $2,500 if you win. Surely no problem.

[–] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 9 points 16 hours ago (3 children)

I worry the centrists will believe it and vote accordingly

[–] PancakesCantKillMe@lemmy.world 17 points 15 hours ago (1 children)
[–] blarth@thelemmy.club 9 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Upvoted purely for vim knowledge.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 11 hours ago
