Yeah i have never seen a press event where there was a giant light installed in the middle of the crowd pointing at the speaker. Would have been a cool picture though.

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 22 points 3 days ago

With the perfect timing it could be from a flash from another photographer

But very unlikely

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 32 points 3 days ago

OMG it's a metropolico stache!

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

In this one she has a watermark mustache lol

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 110 points 3 days ago (2 children)

You know the shadow has been edited in, right?

[–] BitUnWise@programming.dev 44 points 3 days ago

It is a fitting picture, but yeah, the lighting is all wrong for it to be real

[–] Bohne93@feddit.org 2 points 3 days ago

Also shes blonde not brunette

[–] racemaniac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 65 points 3 days ago (2 children)

As others mentioned, it's fake It's also really obvious, for such a shadow to be cast, she'd also have to be clearly lit from that direction, but is lit from above, not below. And also the microphone arm is perfectly straight across her face, even though we're not looking from the same direction as the shadow is cast, so the straight line should be deformed by the shape of her face.

It's funny, and a nice reference to older movies where they did this to mock Hitler, but just be honest that it's photoshopped: ).

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago

For anyone who doesn't know what's happening: shadows blur when farther away from what's casting them because light sources typically emit light over some area rather than a single point. At the edges of the shadow, the light source is only partially obscured; this is continuous which leads to the blurring effect.

It happens no matter how far away the object casting the shadow is, but it's blurred more the further the object is because it gets smaller relative to the light source as viewed from where the shadow is.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It coulda been timed with another photographer’s flash…but that’s pretty much the only way it would happen. Yes, I know it’s ‘shopped. Just offering the hypothetical.

[–] racemaniac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 days ago

Even then, for such a clear shadow, there should have been obvious light from that side, not just the light from above. And the shadow should still have been deformed XD

Not sure if it's true but I heard she's a lesbian married to a woman from Sri Lanka (or some other country that's not exactly known for their arian people). How the voters don't see the contradiction is anyone's wonder but then again, we've learned that you can't be the brightest kid if you are voting for them so...

[–] nialv7@lemmy.world 77 points 3 days ago (3 children)

She gives AfD voters a shield to do bigoted things, because well their lead is a lesbian so how can they be bigoted? /s

It also improves the optics of the party and makes it look "normal" so people who aren't that far right doesn't feel they are doing something bad for supporting AfD.

Ah right... the old "I have a black/gay friend, I can't be racist/homophobic" trick... As I said, their voters are not known for being the sharpest tools in the shed.

[–] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I'm reminded of how Milo Yiannaopoulus not only played the "I'm Gay, I can't be bad." card, but was Jewish or Catholic depending on which made him look better at the time.

[–] BeelzebubEiNukuKoskaan@piefed.social 2 points 3 days ago (2 children)

lol there's a name I haven't heard in a while. I hope its because he's become irrelevant, not because I've managed to shut that part of the world out of my life.

Both are fine to me though.

[–] Wildmimic@anarchist.nexus 5 points 3 days ago

He was deported by ICE a few days back lol

[–] QueenHawlSera@piefed.social 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He was recently deported. Changed his entire view on ICE

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 5 points 3 days ago

also being a woman, not ugly helps too luring people.

[–] wieson@feddit.org 34 points 3 days ago (1 children)

True, and she also lives in Switzerland not in Germany.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

she knows not to eat where you shit, she will be safe and sound once the AFD fanatics come for her head eventually.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 17 points 3 days ago

and shes also FOREIGNER.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago (2 children)

a woman from Sri Lanka (or some other country that's not exactly known for their arian people)

You might be surprised.

("Aryan" didn't originally mean what the Nazis wanted it to mean. Like the swastika and a bunch of other stuff, it was stolen and twisted to suit their purposes.)

[–] Enkrod@feddit.org 9 points 3 days ago

Doesn't matter, the Roma are an Aryan people and were declared non-Aryan by the Nazis. Because the racist idea of Aryan has nothing to do with the correct scientific use of the word.

[–] TheOctonaut@piefed.zip 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

I was wrong! Sri Lanka is majority Sinhalese not Tamil. Still, the situation is quote different from Brahmin Neo-Nazis in Delhi

~~Sri Lanka is not part of the area you're thinking of. South Indians and Sri Lankans have a completely different language family and ethnicity to North Indians.~~

[–] grue@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Map from the article I linked:

Remind me again what that mostly-burgundy (for Sinhala-Dhivehi language group) island at the bottom right is?

I was taught that all humans are alike, that if you scind up society in better and less better humans you get nazism.

But here we are, with mentally ill leaders (like elon, musk, trump, ...) and mentally "challenged" (you know what I mean) hateful people cheering them on...

I personally need more adjectives, for the hoarding egomaniac overlords, but also for the hateful people "at the bottom" that'll turn on women, gays, foreigners, trans people, at the drop of a hat while simultaneously cry nobody helps them.

Is it just people without empathy?

Edit I wrote musk instead of putin, elon was already there, I was tired I guess

It's true but it doesn't matter. One of the main promises of the far-right is to free people from the shackles of "reason" and "logic."
Otherwise, how would they vote for a party that's going to make their lives worse in every aspect? It's not a bug, it's a feature.
I think we all can imagine how lesbians will fare after the 4th Reich that the far right is is yearning for has been installed.

[–] anzo@programming.dev 3 points 3 days ago

Also, her name is Alice. Yeah, for real. Hear me out. There's an old nazi chant the crowds can't say, which is "alles für alles". It would be illegal to chant it. One of the thing people like to do in her presence is swap in her name there. I know it's stupid, but the whole spirit of AfD, and their "time to move on" pillar is expressed with joy in this little things. Anyone following in detail they actions can see how obscenely brainwashed they are. Full of nazi symbolisms in their campaigns. Alice is just a pet politician in this regard. But that's not to remove any seriousness to her own speeches and ideas. She's as dangerous as any other of the deranged lunatics in this neonazi conclave Putin has installed in Germany

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

The right believes in unequality.

Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit:

There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

― Frank Wilhoit

It is just million times more relevant for fascism, and some more moderate conservatives try their best to not be hypocrites. Fascists however flex their status with public hypocrisy. Or think the people who expose their secret hypocrisy are the real bad people, who are trying to tarnish their right to be remembered as perfect human beings by historians.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

You don't have to be a dumbass to be racially bigoted and full of contradictions. My mother is a christian who gave me shit for telling a (harmless) joke involving Jesus years ago. Then she voted for she shit-bag three times. Fuck her.

Sorry to break it to you but eh... you're describing someone who's not among the brightest. First time, I can understand. Second time, a bit less. But third? Yeah, you need to be a "special kind" of bigoted racist to vote for him. And I say special to not say dumb as a rock.

Wasn't there that one flyer, on which if one looks at the paper through sunlight, a window of a house pictured on the other side turns into a mustache for her?
